NIFTEM provided training in Jashpur on producing bakery products from coarse grains

Raipur, Nov 2025 : NIFTEM students explained in detail the importance of the fiber, minerals, and antioxidants found in coarse grains, as well as the health benefits of their regular consumption. During the training, the participating women were also informed about the income that can be earned from coarse-grain-based products and the market possibilities.

Participation of 25 women from self-help groups in the training
A hands-on training on the nutritional components of coarse grains and the preparation of bakery products using them was organized the previous day at the Centre of Excellence established on Mahua by the National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), Haryana. Twenty-five women from self-help groups participated in this training.

Increasing the use of coarse grains to improve nutritional levels
The objective of the programme is to increase the use of coarse grains in bakery items such as naan-khatai, nutribars, and cookies, enhance their nutritional value, and create new employment opportunities for rural women. This training is being conducted with the support of the district administration.

Connecting local communities with food-processing-based entrepreneurship
In Jashpur, the NIFTEM team is providing technical assistance for the production of value-added food products, as well as for packaging, branding, and marketing. This entire initiative is being carried out under the village-adoption programme, which aims to connect local communities with food-processing-based entrepreneurship. The programme is being led by Prof. Prasanna Kumar G.V. and Mr. Abhimanyu Gaur, while it is being conducted under the guidance of NIFTEM Director Dr. Harinder Singh Oberoi. Mission Manager Mr. Vijay Sharan Prasad and Jai Jungle FPC Jashpur Director Mr. Samarth Jain are playing an important role in the operation of the programme and in the coordination of various activities.
