India Create History: Women’s Blind Cricket Team Wins Inaugural T20 World Cup in Colombo
Colombo, Nov 2025 : The Indian women’s blind cricket team etched their name in history by clinching the first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, registering a commanding seven-wicket victory over Nepal in the final held in Colombo. The triumph capped off a flawless campaign in which India remained unbeaten, showcasing remarkable dominance across all stages of the tournament.

After winning the toss, India chose to field and executed an impressive bowling performance, restricting Nepal to 114 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. The run chase was nothing less than clinical. India reached the target in just 12.1 overs, with 47 balls remaining. Khula Sharir delivered a standout performance, scoring an unbeaten 44 off 27 deliveries, which included four boundaries, steering India comfortably to the title.
This landmark victory comes just three weeks after the Indian women’s team—mainstream category—secured a series win against South Africa in Navi Mumbai. Together, these achievements reflect the rapid rise of women’s cricket in India, especially within the visually impaired community, where the sport is gaining stronger recognition and support.

India’s journey to the final was marked by emphatic wins. In the semi-final, they defeated Australia by nine wickets, while Nepal edged past Pakistan in a narrow contest to secure their place in the final.
The six-nation tournament featured teams from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the United States. It began on November 11 in New Delhi, followed by matches in Bengaluru, before the final stages shifted to Colombo.
