Dehradun Bar Association Submits Memorandum to CM Dhami; Assurances Given for Resolution of Lawyers’ Issues

The office bearers of the Struggle Committee, Bar Association, Dehradun, led by Shri Premchand Sharma (President, Struggle Committee) and Shri Manmohan Kandwal (President, Bar Association, Dehradun), met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and submitted a memorandum concerning various issues faced by lawyers.

The memorandum requested allocation of land for lawyers in the new district court complex, allocation of land in the old district court premises in favor of lawyers, and construction of chambers for lawyers at both locations.

CM Dhami assured the delegation that the state government is actively working to resolve their concerns. He emphasized that solutions can be reached through dialogue and consultation. He acknowledged the contribution of lawyers to the statehood movement and stressed the importance of financial prudence for the development of Uttarakhand.

The CM requested lawyers to conclude their ongoing agitation and proposed forming a committee comprising district administration officials and lawyers to expedite problem-solving. He suggested including an architect in the committee to arrive at a mutually acceptable solution.

He further stated that the issues, along with the report presented by the District Magistrate, will be placed before the Cabinet for appropriate decisions. The government will provide financial assistance for the construction of lawyers’ chambers. Additionally, CM Dhami encouraged lawyers to seek support from MPs and MLAs, adding that he would also personally take initiatives in this regard.

Following the assurances, the office bearers expressed satisfaction and gratitude to the Chief Minister. The meeting was attended by Secretary Shri Shailesh Bagoli, Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh, and lawyers Rajbir Singh Bisht, Manmohan Lamba, Chandrashekhar Tiwari, Rajeev Sharma, Rajesh Kumar Arya, Anuj Sharma, Anil Pandit, Ranjan Solanki, and Bhanu Pratap Sisodia.
