Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Inspects Ghats Along the Godavari River
Nashik, Nov 2025 : Shekhar Singh, Commissioner and Member-Secretary of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Development Authority, along with Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, conducted an inspection of the ghats along the Godavari riverbank this morning and issued several directives.
Commissioner Shri Singh inspected the Ramkund area, Gandhi Talav, Pande Mithai Bridge, Balaji Koth, Ganeshwadi Bridge, Ramsetu Bridge, and the ghat stretch up to Amardham. Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, Water Resources Department Executive Engineer Sonal Shahane, Public Works Department Executive Engineer Navnath Sonawane, and Municipal Corporation City Engineer Sanjay Agrawal were also present during the inspection.
Commissioner Shri Singh said that for the upcoming Kumbh Mela, saints, seers, and devotees from across the country and abroad will be visiting. The ghats must be made safe for their holy bathing (Amrit Snan). For this, the ghats should be repaired, and railings should be installed wherever necessary. Roads connecting the ghats should also be repaired, and basic infrastructure facilities should be strengthened.
He further instructed that bathing arrangements, traffic flow, disaster management, ghat capacity, water depth, electrification, and emergency pathways should be reviewed. All these facilities must be upgraded, and planning should ensure that essential amenities are completed on time so that devotees face no inconvenience.
Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Khatri provided details about various infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Municipal Corporation in preparation for the Kumbh Mela. Water Resources Department Executive Engineer Mrs. Shahane briefed about the planning related to ghat construction and repair works.
