CM Dhami Calls ABVP National Convention a “Gathering of Youth Dedicated to Nation-Building”

Dehradun, Dec 2025 : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday attended the 71st National Convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at the Parade Ground in Dehradun. Extending a warm welcome to ABVP representatives from across the country, he recalled his own journey as a student activist and said that the values he learned during his early years with the Vidyarthi Parishad continue to guide his public life.

Dhami shared that his involvement with ABVP shaped his leadership skills, organizational abilities and his commitment to social service. “Those experiences strengthened my resolve to work with discipline for society. The ideals I imbibed then still inspire me daily,” he said. He added that the ABVP Convention was not merely a routine event but “a grand confluence of energetic youth dedicated to the sacred mission of nation-building.”

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister honored Shri Krishna Pandey from Gorakhpur with the prestigious Prof. Yashwant Rao Kelkar Youth Award. Praising Pandey’s contribution to society, Dhami said he had displayed remarkable dedication through initiatives aimed at eliminating child beggary, serving destitute mentally ill individuals, and supporting the rehabilitation of prison inmates. He added that such exemplary efforts reflect the spirit of responsibility that young India embodies.

Dhami expressed confidence that the resolutions and ideas emerging from this national platform would provide new direction to the country’s progress. He said these deliberations could become milestones in shaping India’s development trajectory and reinforce the country’s social fabric.

Speaking about ABVP’s journey, the Chief Minister noted that the organization was founded in 1949 when India was stepping into a new era filled with challenges of nation-building, cultural awakening and social reform. “It required a conscious, value-driven and nationalistic student force. For 77 years, ABVP has been working with the principle of individual development for nation-building. Today, it stands as a leading force bringing transformative change in the intellectual, educational, social and cultural spheres,” he said.

Dhami underscored that India’s youth remain the country’s biggest strength, and their talent, dedication and hard work can help fulfill the vision of a strong, self-reliant and globally leading India. “With proper direction, India’s youth can transform the dream of ‘One India, Best India’ into reality,” he remarked.

He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, youth empowerment has been given the highest priority. Initiatives like Startup India, Digital India, Skill India, Make in India, Fit India and the New Education Policy are providing opportunities aligned with the aspirations and capabilities of young citizens.

Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, ABVP National President Prof. Raghuraj Kishore Tiwari, General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki and several senior officials were present at the event.
