Administration Continues Crackdown on Illegal Paddy Transportation, Illegal Paddy Worth ₹64 Lakh Seized So Far
4,742 Bags of Paddy Confiscated, Legal Action Taken Against 14 Vehicles
Raipur, December 2025 : Amid the ongoing paddy procurement process in Kabirdham district under the Kharif Marketing Year, the district administration has intensified its action to curb illegal transportation of paddy. So far, joint enforcement teams have seized more than 2,091 quintals of illegally transported paddy in 34 separate cases, with an estimated market value of approximately ₹64.82 lakh, calculated at the rate of ₹3,100 per quintal.
The district administration has issued strict directives to all departments associated with the procurement process to ensure continuous monitoring and swift action against violations. Personnel have been deployed at check posts along district borders, while flying squads are actively monitoring sensitive areas and inspecting suspicious vehicles. In addition, revenue and food department teams are conducting surprise inspections in border regions to prevent the illegal inflow of paddy.

According to information received from the Food Department, 34 separate cases have been registered in the district so far. In these cases, a total of 4,742 bags containing 2,091.20 quintals of illegal paddy have been seized. Based on the prevailing market rate of ₹3,100 per quintal, the total value of the seized paddy is estimated at ₹64.82 lakh.
During the enforcement operations, 14 small and large vehicles involved in illegal transportation have also been seized, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the offenders.
