Golden Opportunity for Nursing Students to Train and Build Careers in Germany: Joint Agreement Between Maharashtra and Baden-Württemberg

Mumbai, December 2025 : A significant joint agreement has been signed between the State of Maharashtra and the German state of Baden-Württemberg to strengthen cooperation in the field of nursing. This agreement will provide nursing students from Maharashtra with a golden opportunity to receive training and build their careers in Germany, said Minister of State for Medical Education, Madhuri Misal.

The joint declaration was signed at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai by Minister Madhuri Misal and Baden-Württemberg’s Minister Manfred Lucha. The occasion was attended by Medical Education Department Secretary Dheeraj Kumar, Medical Education Commissioner Dr. Anil Bhandari, Director of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, Deputy Secretary of the Medical Education Department Dr. Suvarna Kharat, along with senior officials including Archana Bade and Dhirendra Ramteke. A high-level delegation from Baden-Württemberg’s Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Integration also participated, along with senior officials from the medical education department.

Minister of State Madhuri Misal stated that under this agreement, special initiatives will be implemented for language training, advanced skill development, simplification of the certification recognition process, and the dignity and protection of nurses who accept employment in Germany. The core objective of this agreement is to develop highly trained nursing manpower for quality healthcare services. She added that student-faculty exchanges, joint training programmes, study tours, and research initiatives will be conducted between nursing institutions, universities, and training centres in both states to elevate the quality of education to international standards.

Minister Manfred Lucha said that a structured roadmap is being prepared to enhance cooperation in the nursing and healthcare sectors between the two states. Special emphasis will be laid on expanding skill-based healthcare services, promoting research, and creating overseas employment opportunities. This collaboration will open global job prospects for youth and help strengthen and professionalise the healthcare workforce.

The Baden-Württemberg state delegation visited Maharashtra from November 30 to December 6, 2025. The primary objective of this visit was to enhance cooperation in the nursing sector, create training opportunities, and establish new pathways for skill development.

This initiative is expected to further strengthen international partnerships between Maharashtra and Baden-Württemberg in the areas of healthcare and nursing, paving the way for enhanced global exposure, skill enhancement, and employment opportunities for nursing professionals from Maharashtra.
