Chandigarh, December 2025 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today called upon the Punjabi diaspora living in Seoul to work as ambassadors of the state so as to encourage Korean companies to invest in Punjab, which has now emerged as one of the most preferred investment destinations globally.

During his visit to South Korea, while interacting with the Punjabi community in Seoul, the Chief Minister said that due to the industry-friendly policies of the state government, investors are already coming forward to invest in Punjab, and Punjabis in Seoul should further help in attracting investment by becoming brand ambassadors of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjabis are entrepreneurs by birth, and each one of us should make efforts to take the state forward on the path of industrial development. Showing emotional attachment with Punjabis, he said that the state government is already providing a favorable environment for industries in Punjab, and now it is the turn of the NRI Punjabis to serve their motherland.

The Chief Minister said that this will open new avenues of employment for the youth and will also give a big boost to the industrial development of the state, leading to the creation of a “Rangla Punjab.” Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Punjabis are global citizens who have made a distinct identity in every corner of the world, and the spirit of hard work runs in the blood of Punjabis.

The Chief Minister appreciated the entrepreneurial spirit, cultural commitment, and contribution of the Punjabi community in strengthening people-to-people and business-to-business relations. He also appealed to them to play an active role in guiding Korean companies and projecting Punjab as a preferred investment destination. Bhagwant Singh Mann sought their support and cooperation in creating more opportunities for employment, innovation, and technological collaboration.

The Chief Minister said that his vision is absolutely clear — to make Punjab the most preferred destination for global industry by providing policy stability, fast decision-making, and a governance system that respects the time and trust of investors. He said Punjab’s approach is based on partnership and working together with industries, understanding their needs and ensuring that the government becomes a partner in development. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that Punjab has strengthened its infrastructure, expanded industrial capacity, and opened new avenues for investment.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the governance and regulatory reforms of the state, which include the FastTrack Punjab Single-Window System, auto-deemed approvals for 173 services, PAN-based business identity, and amendments to the Punjab Business Rights Act, which ensure time-bound in-principle approvals. He also highlighted Punjab’s industrial infrastructure and informed that investments worth more than Rs 1.4 lakh crore have already been secured through Invest Punjab.

On this occasion, Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated that his approach is simple and clear — to make Punjab the preferred destination for global industry by ensuring policy stability, speed in decision-making, and a governance system that respects the time and trust of investors.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab’s thinking is based on partnership and working together with industries so that, while understanding their needs, the government plays the role of a positive catalyst in the direction of development. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab has strengthened its infrastructure, increased industrial capacity, and opened new routes for investment. He said that partnership between the government and industry is the key to success, and the state government firmly believes that industrial development is possible only when both work as equal partners.

On this occasion, the NRI community gave a warm welcome to the Chief Minister’s delegation. They appreciated Punjab’s global outreach and the continuous efforts to keep Punjabi culture alive among Koreans through the celebrations of festivals, language, food, and traditions.

The NRI community expressed hope that this visit would begin a new chapter in Punjab–South Korea relations, paving the way for long-term partnerships and creative outcomes in industry, technology, and cultural exchange.

Aran International Managing Director C. Akash showed keen interest in investment opportunities in Punjab’s food processing sector. Renowned scholar Dr. (Prof.) Lakhvinder Singh also welcomed the Chief Minister’s initiative of organizing an investment roadshow in South Korea, especially to attract investment in the defence and aerospace sectors. Chairperson of the Punjabi Association in Korea, Meenakshi Pawar, said that after a long time, a high-level delegation of the Punjab government has visited South Korea and emphasized that this new initiative will open new possibilities for long-term cooperation.

It is noteworthy that after an extremely beneficial visit to Japan, the Chief Minister has begun this phase of international investment outreach in South Korea. Bhagwant Singh Mann also held a detailed interaction session with India’s Ambassador to Korea, Gaurangalal Das. During the meeting, he outlined the Punjab government’s goals of promoting deep economic and technological cooperation in high-potential sectors such as food processing, agri-tech, renewable energy, manufacturing, defence, aerospace, and urban infrastructure.

Bhagwant Singh Mann also highlighted Punjab’s evolving industrial environment, progressive policies, and key advantages that establish the state as a strategic gateway for northern India.

After this, the Chief Minister will participate in a round-table meeting on ease of doing business in Punjab, which will include leading law firms, financial investors, advisory groups, and business organizations. The objective is to provide Korean stakeholders a clear understanding of Punjab’s governance reforms, transparent processes, and investor-friendly framework.

After this, a visit will be made to South Korea’s major innovation and technology cluster, Pangyo Techno Valley, where the delegation will study best practices in research and development, start-up ecosystems, and high-tech industrial development.
