Orchha should be developed as a world-class tourist destination : Chief Secretary Shri Jain
Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain has directed concerning officials in Orchha to complete all ongoing projects on time and with high quality so that Orchha can be developed as a world-class tourist destination. He also directed to prepare an integrated master plan keeping in mind the economic and social development of Orchha city.
Chief Secretary Shri Jain inspected various construction works and directed the officials of construction agencies to complete the work within the stipulated time frame. Chief Secretary visited Lord Shri Ram Raja Sarkar. The Chief Secretary inspected the Jujhar Mahal and Hardaul Vatika. He said that the vendor zone should be constructed in a way that facilitates tourist movement. He also said that an action plan should be prepared for organizing the Bundelkhand Cultural Festival, keeping in mind the Khajuraho Festival. Chief Secretary directed officials concerned to ensure the participation of local citizens in ongoing works under the PPP mode, so that they can be provided employment. Shri Jain also visited Kanchana Ghat and directed that the construction of the new bridge over the Betwa River be completed as soon as possible. He directed that the operation of the pink toilets operating at Kanchana Ghat be given to a self-help group.
The Chief Secretary discussed in detail with officials the condition of protected buildings, tourist facilities, and necessary maintenance measures. He stated that preserving heritage sites is our responsibility. Chief Secretary Shri Jain inspected Rai Praveen Mahal and Tulsi Ghat. He directed that all work be completed within the stipulated timeframe and with quality. He also visited the Jahangir Mahal. He did a detailed review of various construction and development works going on at Hotel Betwa Retreat, Shri Ram Raja Lok and Orchha. An action plan should be prepared keeping in view the current tourist arrivals and the possibility of tourists coming in the future. He directed that all the hotels in the city should be star rated. Jujhar Singh Mahal should be developed on the lines of Bundelkhand Cultural Centre. Adventure sports should be promoted. Marketing and branding of Bundeli art, painting and products made from terracotta should be done and they should be sold by bringing them on the online platform.
