New Delhi/Gujarat, December 2025 : Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday met the farmer families in Rajkot who were victims of the oppression of the BJP government in Gujarat. He honoured the farmers who were jailed in false cases and later released, and held a dialogue with them. Arvind Kejriwal said that the entire Gujarat is troubled by the oppression of the BJP government and is saying that BJP should leave Gujarat. Mahatma Gandhi had started the ‘Quit India’ movement and drove the British out of the country, and now the movement that started from Haddad will drive the BJP out of Gujarat. Like the British, the BJP has also become arrogant that no one can remove it from power in Gujarat, but this time its arrogance will be broken. During this, Gujarat in-charge Gopal Rai, MLA Gopal Italia and other senior leaders were present.

Addressing the farmer families, Arvind Kejriwal said that the farmer brothers are not fighting only their own battle, but the battle of all the farmers of Gujarat. Our country remained enslaved for 150 years. It seemed that our country would never be free. The British had the arrogance that the people of India would always remain their slaves and India would never be free. But the residents of Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, together freed the entire country. For the last 30 years, there has been a BJP government in Gujarat. The BJP has also become arrogant that no one can remove it from power. That is why they want to control people with lathis, tear gas, jail and FIRs. But now slowly the fear of BJP is ending from within the people of Gujarat.

At Haddad, farmers were assaulted; when I came to meet them, I was not allowed to meet – Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal said that last month he came to Gujarat to meet the farmer brothers. In Haddad, farmers were lathi-charged, tear gas shells were fired, fake FIRs were lodged and people were put in jail and farmers were oppressed. He could not stop himself and came from Delhi to meet the farmers, but the police of the BJP government did not allow him to meet them. Where the public meeting was held, a separate stage was prepared for the farmers, but the BJP sent the police and got the stage broken. When he went among the public, he was not allowed to meet the people.

AAP will not sit peacefully until everyone is released from jail – Kejriwal

Kejriwal said that Mahatma Gandhi launched the Quit India movement in 1942. In the same way, the Haddad movement is going to prove to be the ‘BJP Quit Gujarat’ movement. BJP has to be driven out of Gujarat, only then people will get justice. Justice will not be achieved only by agitation; when the people of Gujarat press the button against BJP, only then justice will be delivered. During the Haddad movement, 88 farmers were arrested. No one threw stones nor committed any wrongdoing. People had only gathered to demand their rights against the Karda system. Gujarat is the land of non-violence, Gandhi and Sardar Patel. But the BJP government registered false cases and put everyone in jail. Out of 88, 42 people have been released so far, and 46 are still in jail. Until everyone is released, AAP will not relax. A team of lawyers has been formed to bring every person out of jail.

Even after so much oppression, farmers did not bow down and gave courage to the whole Gujarat to stand against BJP – Kejriwal

Praising the courage of the farmers, Kejriwal said that even after such severe oppression, the farmers did not bow down and remained firm. They gave courage to the whole of Gujarat. In the coming days, the entire Gujarat will stand against BJP and will not rest until BJP is driven out of Gujarat. He said that even he was sent to jail. His only fault was that he raised the voice of the people of Delhi—built good schools for children, made treatment free, and provided free electricity. In their government, 73 percent of Delhi residents received free electricity. But as soon as BJP came to power, they shut government hospitals, Mohalla Clinics and are closing schools.

The Haddad movement will not go in vain; it has united the entire Gujarat – Kejriwal

Kejriwal said when he left Delhi for Gujarat, many people stopped him from going, saying that false cases would be filed. But he is not afraid of BJP. Even if BJP puts him in jail 100 times, he will stand with the poor. As long as injustice is done to the people of Gujarat, he will keep coming among them. This farmers’ movement will not go in vain. It has united the entire Gujarat. Now the whole of Gujarat together, in one voice, will say ‘BJP Quit Gujarat.’

They do not catch those who sell liquor and drugs, but they send farmers demanding justice to jail – Kejriwal

Kejriwal said that liquor and drugs are being sold in every corner of Gujarat, but they do not catch those who make spurious liquor and sell drugs. They only catch farmers and put them in jail. They themselves get liquor and drugs sold, and all that money goes to their party. The liquor and drug sellers are their people. Then why do people vote for them? They beat poor people with sticks, put children in jail, and when it is time to vote, people press the lotus button.

There is no difference between BJP and Congress; AAP is the best option for the people of Gujarat – Kejriwal

Kejriwal said that people told him that so far they had no option in Gujarat. BJP and Congress are the same. Two days ago, when Gopal Italia was raising questions on BJP policies at a meeting, a Congress worker came and threw a shoe at him. When BJP was abused, Congress felt offended. Calls came from Delhi to stop Gopal Italia. Congress leaders were themselves saying that BJP should not be abused. He said that now the people of Gujarat have AAP as a better option. BJP and Congress are two sides of the same coin. Therefore, now people need not fear FIRs and jails.

Kejriwal said that he, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, Sanjay Singh and Vijay Nair stayed in jail for months and years for the country. ED raided his house but found not even one rupee. There is not even one rupee in his or his party’s bank accounts. Even after being Chief Minister of Delhi for 10 years, he did not earn a single rupee. They are fighting only for the country. This time the BJP government is going from Gujarat. Immediately after the AAP government is formed, all FIRs will be cancelled. BJP ministers who sent farmers to jail will be made to grind flour in jail.

The Haddad revolution has created new courage and a sense of freedom in the entire Gujarat – Gopal Rai

AAP Gujarat in-charge Gopal Rai said that often after a big movement, people become silent due to fear of the government, but today the Haddad revolution has created new courage and a feeling of freedom in the entire Gujarat. For the last 30 years, the people of Gujarat were tolerating oppression and suffering and were unable to speak. A massive public gathering had assembled in Sudamda village. This revolution is now echoing throughout the state. After this movement, thousands of farmers have gathered in Sudamda, Jamnagar, Khambhaliya, Somnath, Bardoli, Anand and Banaskantha, and now a farmers’ Maha-Panchayat is going to be held in Kutch on 14 December. This revolution happened due to the struggle of farmers and now it is not going to stop.

Gopal Rai further said that earlier only nearby people and relatives knew about Haddad village, but today due to the struggle of farmers, the entire country knows this village. The revolution that the farmers have started from Haddad will be completed only after bringing change in the whole of Gujarat in 2027. We will not let the sacrifice of farmers go in vain and will settle every account and bring change in Gujarat.
