Chhattisgarh Creates New History in Eliminating Naxalism: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur, December 2025 : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated during a press conference held in Rajnandgaon today that the two years of the Chhattisgarh government’s tenure have proven to be a decisive turning point in the state’s history. He said that under the target set by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah—“Complete eradication of Naxalism from the entire country by 31 March 2026”—Chhattisgarh is progressing rapidly in that direction. He added that the backbone of Naxalism has been broken and it is now taking its last breaths.

The Chief Minister said that during the last two years, security forces have achieved unprecedented success. More than 500 Maoists have been neutralised in encounters, while over 4,000 Naxalites have either surrendered or been arrested—clear indicators of the weakening Naxal movement. He said that the bravery of the security forces has given a decisive advantage against decades-old violence in Bastar.

He also elaborated on the state government’s new rehabilitation policy, which includes approval for 15,000 Pradhan Mantri Awas houses for surrendered Naxalites, financial assistance of ₹10,000 per month for three years, skill-development training, and employment-linked programmes. The Chief Minister said that “abandoning the language of guns and joining the mainstream” is now becoming a reality in Bastar. Innovations like the Pandum Café are symbols of this social transformation.

He added that with the rapid establishment of security camps and increasing administrative outreach, more than 400 villages have been re-inhabited. Through the Niyad Nella Naar scheme, basic services such as roads, electricity, drinking water, healthcare, and education are reaching these areas. The Chief Minister said, “Where once the sound of gunfire echoed, today school bells are ringing. In many villages, the national flag has been hoisted after years, people are participating in elections without fear, and facilities—from ration cards to mobile networks—are now easily accessible.”

Calling Bastar a major hub for future development, the Chief Minister said that unprecedented opportunities are emerging in agriculture, irrigation, forest produce, livestock, and small industries. He added that the new Industrial Policy (2024–30) includes special provisions for Naxal-affected regions. By promoting value addition, processing of forest produce, and rural entrepreneurship, local youth are being connected to employment and sustainable income.

The Chief Minister also said that granting industry status to tourism has fast-tracked Bastar’s recognition on the global map. The Kutumsar Caves, waterfalls, the forests of Abujhmad, and the region’s tribal cultural heritage are becoming major global attractions. The home-stay model is expanding rapidly and strengthening the rural economy.

In conclusion, the Chief Minister said that this historic progress in eliminating Naxalism is a tribute to the state’s martyred soldiers, the tireless efforts of security forces, and the trust of the people. He expressed confidence that, in line with the resolve of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Bastar will become completely free from Naxalism and join the mainstream of development.
