Vijay Promises to Stand by Puducherry and Boost His Party’s Future Here
Puducherry, Dec 2025 : Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Tuesday declared that he would stand firmly with the people of Puducherry and ensure that his party emerges as a strong political force in the union territory. Addressing his first major public rally in Puducherry, he asserted, “I will always stand with the people of Puducherry, and in the coming Assembly elections, the flag of our party will surely fly here.”
Emphasising emotional unity over administrative borders, Vijay said that although Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are separate on paper, “we are all one family.” His remarks struck a chord with the crowd, which had gathered in large numbers despite tight restrictions and security measures following last month’s Karur tragedy that claimed 41 lives.

The rally was held at the Uppalam Harbour Complex, where police capped attendance at 5,000 people, all of whom were allowed entry only after detailed scanning and verification. Heavy police deployment began from the early hours, and every attendee underwent strict checks before entering the venue. As Vijay walked onto the stage, he greeted supporters with warm gestures, drawing loud cheers that echoed across the ground.
Paying homage to the political legacy of M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), Vijay recalled that it was Puducherry that once reminded Tamil Nadu not to forget the iconic leader. Rejecting claims that his political journey would remain confined to Tamil Nadu, he promised to voice Puducherry’s issues with equal force and commitment.
In a pointed remark, he praised the Puducherry administration for organising smooth and secure arrangements for the rally while taking a subtle swipe at the Tamil Nadu government, saying it should learn from these measures. “They will not learn on their own,” he quipped, adding that the people would teach them a lesson in the next election.
Launching a strong critique of the Central government, Vijay said Puducherry continues to be denied full statehood despite repeated resolutions passed in the Assembly. He accused the Centre of failing to generate adequate jobs, attract IT companies, or set clear performance benchmarks for its ministers. He also alleged that the Karaikal region has been systematically neglected, resulting in its marginalisation.
Pointing to basic civic shortcomings, Vijay said Puducherry still lacks sufficient parking spaces and public toilets. He criticised the DMK, alleging that the Union government’s inadequate allocation of funds has forced Puducherry to rely heavily on loans. He further claimed that Puducherry remains the only region in the country without a functional ration shop system.
Concluding his address, Vijay reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Puducherry, promising that his political movement would grow beyond Tamil Nadu, with the union territory set to play a pivotal role in his party’s future electoral roadmap.
