India Debuts First Fully Indigenous Multi-Utility UGV for Frontline Operations.

New Delhi; December 2025: India is rolling out a new battlefield partner: a rugged, homegrown robot built to take on the missions soldiers dread the most.

The SapperScout Version 2.0 is a fully unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) engineered for multiple frontline tasks while keeping soldiers out of harm’s way.

Weighing roughly 380 kilograms (838 pounds), it uses advanced sensors, ultrasonic detectors, and AI-driven controls to navigate obstacles and follow planned routes. Operators can run the vehicle within line of sight or remotely, depending on mission needs.

A 06 wheel independent drive system and articulated suspension let the platform traverse deserts, mountains, rocky terrain, snow, and damaged roads with stability. With a payload capacity of up to 250 kilograms (551 pounds), the UGV can handle supply runs, casualty evacuation, or carry sensors and weapons.

A quick-change payload bay allows rapid swapping of mission modules, including rescue tools, anti-drone systems, or remote weapon stations.

A built-in 360-degree camera streams live video to troops conducting surveillance and reconnaissance in forward areas.

Ground-penetrating sensors also enable the SapperScout Ver 2.0 to detect hidden mines and lay them safely when required.

The UGV can go straight into mined or active combat zones to evacuate the wounded or deliver water, ammunitions, rations, and gear to frontline units.

Designed for modular use, it can carry remote-controlled weapon stations and is ready for future integration with counter-unmanned aerial systems.

Developed by Major Rajprasad RS of the 7 Engineer Regiment, the UGV debuted at Innoyodha 2025, the Indian Army’s flagship innovation event.

The SapperScout is his 12th innovation, joining four systems already fielded by the army over the past two years.

The vehicle arrives as India accelerates its push toward manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T), a critical capability for future multi-domain operations.

Team Maverick.
