Rajasthan Moving Towards Becoming a Major Aviation Training Hub

Jaipur, December 2025 : On the completion of two years of the present state government, Rajasthan is charting a new path of development and identity, steadily moving towards becoming a leading centre for aviation training. Inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the Rajasthan government is continuously working to strengthen the aviation sector. The government aims to establish the state’s identity nationally and internationally through improved air connectivity and modern aviation facilities.

With the implementation of the Rajasthan Aviation Policy, the operation of new flying training schools, and the expansion and development of airports, the state is set to create new milestones in aviation infrastructure. As part of this vision, eight flying training schools will soon be operational in Rajasthan.

Eight Flying Training Schools to Operate in the State

Rajasthan is rapidly emerging as a major hub for aviation training. With the establishment of private flying training institutes in Kishangarh and Hamirgarh, opportunities for pilot training and aviation skill development have increased significantly. These initiatives will provide new employment and training opportunities for the youth of the state. Over the past year, the process for operating eight flying training schools has been initiated. To ensure smooth functioning of these institutions, the state government has reduced the tax on aviation turbine fuel from 26 per cent to just 2 per cent.

To maximise the utilisation of airstrips across various districts, the government has decided to use them for flying training school operations. A dedicated policy has been framed for this purpose, including the fixation of rates for setting up hangars on land adjoining the airstrips.

Civil Aviation Policy to Open New Avenues for Investment

Under the Rajasthan Civil Aviation Policy, priority is being given to the development of new airports, better utilisation of aviation infrastructure, and improved air travel services for passengers and cargo. The policy has opened new avenues for investment in the aviation sector and strengthened passenger and cargo connectivity in the state.

In the first phase, development works will be undertaken at Uttarlai in Barmer and for the upgradation of Udaipur Airport. Additionally, development of airstrips at Chakchainpura (Sawai Madhopur), Nagaur, Hamirgarh (Bhilwara), Abu Road (Sirohi), and Lalgarh Jatan (Sri Ganganagar) is also planned.

The government has also approved leasing conditions for airstrip land to promote aerosports activities, which will boost adventure sports, tourism, and economic activity in rural areas. Plans are in place to establish flight training organisations, aircraft maintenance engineering training organisations, and maintenance, repair and overhaul units, with the first flight training organisation to be set up in Jhalawar.

Improved Connectivity and Airport Expansion

Efforts are also underway to connect major cities by air. Jaipur is being linked with Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Jaisalmer through small aircraft, which will benefit trade, administration, medical services and tourism.

Significant steps have been taken to expand aviation facilities in Jaipur, Udaipur and Uttarlai. In Jaipur, the Airports Authority of India has allotted 12,778 square metres of land for the construction of a new state hangar and VIP complex. In Udaipur, acquisition of 145 acres of private land for airport expansion is in progress, while around 63 acres are being acquired at Uttarlai for a civil enclave and approach road.
