Raipur, December 2025 : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today unveiled an attractive coffee table book in his office chamber at the Vidhan Sabha on the occasion of the completion of two years of the decision taken in his first Cabinet meeting to approve 18 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). The book effectively showcases the historic progress, innovations and achievements made under the rural housing scheme in the state.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), against the target of 26.27 lakh houses allotted to the state, approvals have so far been granted for 24.37 lakh houses, while construction of 17.14 lakh houses has been completed. Notably, in its brief tenure of just two years, the present government has completed the construction of nearly 8 lakh houses, setting a new benchmark in the field of rural housing construction in the state.

On the same occasion, Chief Minister Sai also inaugurated 10,000 livelihood pond (Dobri) construction works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). These ponds are targeted to be completed by May 2026. This step marks an important move towards social rehabilitation and mainstream integration.

Present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Principal Secretary of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department Ms Niharika Barik Singh, Director of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Commissioner of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Mr Taran Prakash Sinha, Secretary of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mr Bhim Singh, along with other senior departmental officials.
