Sanjay Saraogi to Take Charge as Bihar BJP President, Ceremonial Event Scheduled in Patna

Patna, Dec 2025 : Sanjay Saraogi, the newly appointed President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar, is set to formally assume charge on Thursday at the party’s state headquarters in Patna. This event marks the beginning of a new organisational chapter for the party in the state.

Outgoing State President Dilip Jaiswal will hand over the responsibilities to Saraogi during the ceremony. The event will be attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with senior party leaders, functionaries, and workers, reflecting the significance of the occasion in Bihar’s political landscape.

On Wednesday, the Bihar unit of the BJP posted on X (formerly Twitter), “On 18th December, at the BJP State Office, a grand event will be organised for the assumption of duties by the newly appointed State President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Bihar, Sanjay Saraogi. Bihar In-charge Vinod Tawde and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary took stock of the preparations for this.”

Saraogi is scheduled to formally take charge as the Bihar BJP President at 12:30 p.m. at the party’s state office. According to Bihar BJP Media In-charge Danish Eqbal, Saraogi will arrive in Patna from Darbhanga on Thursday, and elaborate arrangements have been made to welcome him. Party flags, banners, and posters have been displayed along his route, and ceremonial welcome gates have been erected at several locations across the city.

Upon arrival in Patna, Saraogi will pay floral tributes to the life-size statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar near the High Court. Following this, he will proceed to the BJP State Office in an open jeep procession accompanied by party workers. During the journey, Saraogi will also pay homage to the statue of Jayaprakash Narayan near the Income Tax Roundabout before heading to the headquarters.

Sanjay Saraogi, a six-time MLA from Darbhanga Sadar and a prominent leader from the Vaishya community, was appointed as the Bihar BJP President on December 15. His appointment is seen as a significant step amid the party’s ongoing internal restructuring and has triggered fresh political discussions across the state.

The appointment was officially communicated through a letter issued by BJP National General Secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh, stating that National President Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Sanjay Saraogi as the State President of the BJP in Bihar, with immediate effect.

Saraogi succeeds Dilip Jaiswal, who previously held the position of Bihar BJP President and currently serves as the Industries Minister in the Bihar government. His selection comes at a time when the BJP has recently initiated several key organisational changes. Notably, on December 14, the party appointed Nitin Nabin, MLA from Bankipur and a minister in the Bihar government, as the National Working President of the BJP.

With Nitin Nabin’s elevation at the national level, the Bihar BJP leadership has entrusted a critical organisational responsibility to Saraogi, reflecting the party’s confidence in his leadership capabilities. The formal assumption of office is expected to strengthen the party’s presence and coordination in the state, particularly ahead of future political and electoral activities.

This ceremonial event in Patna is being viewed as a significant moment in the BJP’s strategic roadmap for Bihar, with party leaders aiming to reinforce organisational discipline, grassroots engagement, and leadership consolidation under Saraogi’s stewardship.
