AAP Exposes Gujarat Govt Spending ₹50 Crore on VIP Welcomes While Neglecting Tribal Welfare
Delhi, December 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sharply criticized the Gujarat government over neglect of tribal welfare during a press conference held by AAP National Media Incharge Anurag Dhanda and Delhi Pradesh President Saurabh Bhardwaj. The leaders accused the BJP government of lavishly spending crores on Prime Minister’s events while failing to support tribal children, students, and patients, stating “there is no grant” whenever tribal needs arise. They termed this negligence as clear evidence of the BJP’s anti-tribal mindset.
During the press conference, Anurag Dhanda stated that while grand stages are set up in the name of tribal communities, the ground reality is stark: scholarships for tribal children remain suspended, support for serious illnesses like sickle cell disease is absent, and Anganwadi bills are pending. He questioned why the government, with unlimited funds for VIP arrangements, cannot allocate resources for tribal children’s education and healthcare.
Delhi Pradesh President Saurabh Bhardwaj described this as “showpiece development,” pointing out severe issues in tribal areas related to malnutrition, education, and health. Instead, government priorities have shifted to building stages, domes, and accommodating VIP guests. He criticized the government for limiting the tribal community to speeches and photos, ignoring their real needs.
The leaders revealed that official information obtained in response to questions raised by AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava from Dediapada, Gujarat, was shocking. According to administration records, crores were spent across various heads for Prime Minister’s events: ₹7 crore on the pandal, ₹3 crore on domes, ₹5 crore on stage construction, ₹2 crore on VIP tea and snacks, and ₹7 crore on buses for transporting attendees.
Anurag Dhanda highlighted the stark contrast with tribal hostels, where children receive only ₹2,100 per month, covering food, electricity, and other expenses. While thousands of rupees are spent in a single day for officials, children struggle with insufficient funds for an entire month—exposing the government’s priorities.
Saurabh Bhardwaj further stated that tribal families affected by sickle cell disease are often told no grants are available. Scholarships for children have been suspended for two years, classrooms are insufficient, and thousands of children suffer from malnutrition without proper budgets. Meanwhile, public funds are freely spent on Unity Marches and VIP programs.
Both leaders emphasized that AAP does not view tribal communities merely as a vote bank. The party believes true development means ensuring education, healthcare, and dignity for tribal children. By raising this issue, AAP gave voice to public sentiment, questioning whether development is only for stages and cameras or also for the children whose futures are trapped in bureaucratic files. The call from Dediapada is now resonating across the country. These expenditure figures are not merely about money—they reveal the government’s priorities. Citizens are now deciding whether they want VIP glamour or a secure future for their children.
