Alipore Zoological Garden Records A Steep Decline In Footfall On Christmas.
Kolkata, December 2025: On the Merry Christmas Day, Alipore Zoological Gardenr ecorded a footfall of 44654 till the closing of the booking counters.

This number of footfall is a sharp decline in comparison to 75,000 to 01 Lakh which had been achieved in the yesteryears on Christmas. When Maverick News have interacted with the competent authorities, they informed :
The decline in today’s visitor turnout at the Zoological Garden, Alipore, appears to be influenced by an understandable yet misleading factor. In the past, the zoo has recorded impressive footfall figures ranging between 75,000 and 1 lakh visitors on special days. However, today’s comparatively low attendance is primarily due to public confusion regarding the zoo’s weekly closure.Although the Zoological Garden, Alipore, had officially announced through its website that it would remain open even on Thursday, December 25, 2025, automated listings on Google AI and other online platforms incorrectly displayed the zoo as “closed.” As a result, many prospective visitors assumed the facility was not operational today and postponed their visit. It is important to emphasize that the Zoological Garden, Alipore, had made all necessary efforts to inform the public about its open status through official channels. The misleading online information was beyond our control and significantly affected public awareness and footfall figures.
However the authorities have exemplified their optimism regarding a surge in visits in the ongoing winter vacation with more footfall on the 01st of January, 2026.
