14,000 citizens participate enthusiastically in Gadchiroli Mega Marathon
Gadchiroli, Dec 2025 : “Today, not only are citizens running, but the development of Gadchiroli is running. This determination and positive energy of the people of Gadchiroli will surely bring about the transformation of the district,” said Minister of State for Finance, Planning, Agriculture, Relief and Rehabilitation, Law and Justice, Labour, and Co-Guardian Minister of Gadchiroli district, Adv. Ashish Jaiswal.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Gadchiroli Mega Marathon’ organised by the police department at the premises of the Gadchiroli Zilla Parishad.
On this occasion, Additional Director General of Police (Special Operations) Chering Dorje, Special Inspector General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sandeep Patil, District Collector Avishyant Panda, MLA Dharmaraobaba Atram, MLA Dr. Milind Narote, Deputy Inspector General Ankit Goyal, Superintendent of Police Shri Nilotpala, Deputy Inspector General (Operations) of the Central Reserve Police Force Ajay Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Suhas Gade, Vice-Chancellor of Gondwana University Dr. Prashant Bokare, Managing Director of Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited Balasubramaniam Prabhakaran, and Additional District Collector Nitin Gavande were prominently present.
Stating that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had conveyed his best wishes for the mega marathon, Minister of State Adv. Jaiswal praised the beautiful and successful organisation of the event. He also noted that Gadchiroli district is now doing work that inspires other districts.
Enthusiastic response from 14,000 runners
Around 14,000 citizens from various parts of the district participated in the mega marathon. Races of different distances—21 km, 10 km, 5 km and 3 km—were organised. Citizens, youth, students, women, as well as personnel from the police and security forces participated with great enthusiasm and made the event successful. The marathon was flagged off by the dignitaries by showing the green flag. Notably, the Co-Guardian Minister and the senior officials present also personally participated by running in the marathon.
In the 21-kilometre marathon, Sakshi Poladwar secured first place in the women’s category, while Roshan Bodalwar won first place in the men’s category. In the 10-kilometre marathon, Munni Madavi topped the women’s category and Rohan Burse secured first place in the men’s category. All winners were felicitated by the dignitaries with first, second and third prizes.
