Boost Production and Profitability with Latest Mining Technology: Chief Secretary
Jaipur, December 2025 : Chief Secretary and Chairman of Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals (RSMML), Shri V. Srinivas, stressed the need to increase production, annual turnover and profitability by adopting the latest technologies in mineral mining. He said that RSMML enjoys an almost monopoly across the country in the production of steel-grade limestone and rock phosphate, and this advantage must be leveraged to further enhance output and business. He also emphasized increasing the production of gypsum and lignite.
Shri V. Srinivas was chairing the 75th Annual General Meeting of RSMML and the 421st meeting of its Board of Directors on Tuesday at the Chintan Hall of the Secretariat. He informed that RSMML is currently producing 3.5 million tonnes of limestone annually, while in 2024–25 it produced 6.2 million tonnes of rock phosphate, limestone, gypsum and lignite combined. By November this year, 3.9 million tonnes of minerals had already been produced.
On the occasion of RSMML completing 50 years, the Chief Secretary directed that a film showcasing its activities be produced and a coffee-table book be prepared. He added that RSMML should also enhance its participation in the development of mining areas.
Principal Secretary, Mines, Shri T. Ravikant, said that RSMML should diversify its operations and explore opportunities in new sectors. He stressed the importance of increasing production and pursuing aggressive marketing while strictly adhering to mining safety standards. He pointed out that RSMML possesses abundant reserves of rock phosphate useful for agriculture, as well as rich deposits of steel-grade limestone in Jaisalmer, and efforts should be made to expand demand and supply for the steel industry.
RSMML Managing Director, Ms. Pragya Kevalramani, briefed the meeting on the company’s activities and progress. She said that on the completion of 50 years, several welfare activities such as health check-ups and blood donation camps are being organized. Annual sports competitions will be held every January, with prize distribution on January 26.
Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Environment, Shri Anand Kumar, and Principal Secretary, Finance, Shri Vaibhav Galaria, also offered suggestions during the meeting.
