Fisheries Minister Attends 12th Governing Body Meeting of National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB)

Aizawl, Jan 2026: Today, Pu Lalthansanga, Minister of the Fisheries Department, attended the 12th Governing Body Meeting of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), held at Novotel Hotel, Hyderabad. The meeting was chaired by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Ministry of Fisheries & Animal Husbandry.

During the meeting, Minister Lalthansanga requested the Union Minister to prioritize projects that could enhance Mizoram’s fishery sector. Specifically, he emphasized the need for support in implementing the Integrated Aquapark Project and suggested that Mizoram could host one of the advanced training centers under the Fisheries Department at Lengpui. The Minister also proposed collaboration with NFDB and ICAR to develop these initiatives effectively.

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh acknowledged Mizoram’s fishery potential and assured that he would consider the requests for the development of training programs and other fisheries initiatives. He also highlighted the importance of sustainable practices and modern aquaculture techniques for boosting fish production in the region.

The meeting in Aizawl was attended by Er. Lalrothanga, Secretary of the Fisheries Department, the Minister’s Personal Secretary, and other senior officials of the department.
