CM Yogi govt signs an MoU between Export Promotion Bureau and Walmart

MSMEs to be equipped for digital, E-commerce, and export readiness

Three-year MoU, extendable by mutual agreement

MSMEs to be onboarded onto digital platforms and global value chains

Lucknow, January 2026 : The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a major step towards integrating the state’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with global markets. A strategic, non-financial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of the MSME and Export Promotion Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Walmart Inc., through the Ideas to Impact Foundation under the Walmart Vriddhi Supplier Development Program. The MoU will remain in force for three years and may be extended by mutual consent.

Under this collaboration, MSMEs across the state will receive structured capacity-building support, including training in digital enablement, e-commerce preparedness, packaging, quality standards, certifications, and market access. The initiative aims to enhance the global competitiveness of Uttar Pradesh’s enterprises and strengthen their participation in domestic and international trade.

The primary objective of the MoU is to boost exports and generate employment by integrating MSMEs into national and global value chains.

Through the Walmart Vriddhi program, entrepreneurs will be offered free training and mentorship, enabling them to engage effectively in both domestic and cross-border e-commerce.

The Uttar Pradesh Export Promotion Policy 2025–30, implemented by the Yogi government, places strong emphasis on e-commerce–led exports.

Under this policy, first-time exporters are eligible for a one-time incentive covering 75 percent of the e-commerce platform listing fee, up to a maximum of ₹3 lakh.

This incentive is aimed at lowering entry barriers and facilitating global market access for the state’s exporters.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Additional Chief Secretary for Infrastructure and Industrial Development, MSME and Export Promotion, and NRI Department, Alok Kumar, along with senior officials from Walmart, Flipkart, and the Export Promotion Bureau. Speaking on the occasion, Alok Kumar said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a leading hub for exports and e-commerce in the country. He emphasized that MSMEs form the backbone of the state’s economy and noted that this partnership would unlock new opportunities, expand market access, and create fresh avenues for growth.
