The Resounding Voice of ‘Vande Mataram’ Across Odisha
Mass Singing Held in Educational Institutions on National Youth Day
Bhubaneswar, January 2026 : On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary and National Youth Day, a grand mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ was held today across all schools, colleges, and universities in Odisha. Over 16,000 educational institutions from the state participated in this historic event, with more than 2.1 million students expressing their reverence and devotion to the motherland together.
The statewide ‘Vande Mataram Mass Singing’ program was organized jointly by the State Government’s Departments of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Higher Education, School and Mass Education, and Sports & Youth Services. At 11 am, students across all government and private educational institutions sang ‘Vande Mataram’ simultaneously. On this occasion, millions of students, teachers, and staff came together, resonating with a spirit of patriotism and national pride.
Expressing his happiness over the success of the program, Minister of Higher Education, Sports & Youth Services, and Odia Language, Literature & Culture, Mr. Suryabanshi Suraj, described it as a “historic moment.” He said that the young voices echoing ‘Vande Mataram’ are a strong symbol of our unwavering dedication to the nation. The minister extended his congratulations and gratitude to all participating educational institutions, students, and teachers involved in the program.
Notably, prior to the mass singing, ‘Vande Mataram Training Programs’ were conducted throughout the state. All districts were divided into five divisions—Jaipur, Brahmapur, Baleshwar, Sambalpur, and Bhubaneswar—where divisional-level training programs were successfully completed. In addition, training camps were organized at district, municipal, and block levels, ensuring wide participation and smooth execution of the program.
The event not only fostered a sense of unity and national pride among students but also reinforced the cultural and patriotic values instilled through structured preparation and collective participation. The meticulous organization of these training programs played a key role in making the mass singing a memorable and impactful celebration for the state’s youth.
