New Delhi, January 2026 : The third International Kite Festival was inaugurated on Friday at Baansera Park in the presence of Hon’ble Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah and the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena. Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the festival offers an opportunity to reconnect with India’s rich culture and traditions. While the kite festival may be new to Delhi in its present form, flying kites has long been an integral part of every Delhiite’s childhood memories. She noted that flying kites in lanes, homes, and on rooftops has been a cherished tradition, and the festival helps revive those fond memories.
The Chief Minister further stated that the kite string carries an important life lesson—while moving ahead, one must never let go of values, traditions, and responsibility towards the nation. She added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is steadily progressing on the path of “Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi” (Development with Heritage) and is carving a distinct identity on the global stage.
Congratulating the organizers for the grand and vibrant event, the Chief Minister also expressed gratitude, on behalf of the people of Delhi, to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor for his efforts in bringing this memorable cultural celebration to the capital.
