Rajasthan Moving Towards Becoming a Textile Manufacturing and Export Hub

Jaipur, January 2026 : Chief Secretary Mr. V. Srinivas said that the Central and State Governments are jointly working to establish Rajasthan as a major textile manufacturing and export hub at the national level. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government has implemented the Rajasthan Textile and Apparel Policy–2025 to encourage investment in this sector. For the first time, the garment manufacturing sector has also been included in the policy to promote exports. The policy covers areas ranging from the promotion of natural and man-made fiber production to technical textiles and textile manufacturing, along with related sectors such as handloom, wool processing, leather products, and footwear. To encourage textile and apparel industries, several provisions have been made, including an asset creation incentive of up to ₹80 crore annually for a period of 10 years.

The Chief Secretary was chairing a meeting on the theme “Textiles in Rajasthan” held at the Secretariat on Friday. He said that Bhilwara is the textile hub of Rajasthan. Under the Rajasthan One District One Product policy, products from districts such as Bhilwara, Balotra, Kota, Pali, and Barmer are being promoted.

Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Ms. Neelam Shami Rao, said that Rajasthan has immense potential for new-age fibers. Milkweed is found in abundance in the state, and fiber obtained from this plant can be used in the textile industry. This initiative can lead to the development of new products and promote innovation in the sector. She added that the Central Government is actively working towards innovations in textiles, including new-age fibers.

Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Mr. Shikhar Agrawal, said that the state government is strengthening artisans and the textile sector through skill training, improved infrastructure, and financial support. This will empower micro, small, medium, and large industries and generate new employment opportunities. Modern technology and production methods are being continuously promoted in Rajasthan’s textile sector, and a roadmap is being implemented for its sustainable growth and global competitiveness.

At present, more than 1,800 textile and apparel units are operational in the state. In the year 2024–25, Rajasthan’s textile sector exports increased to ₹13,500 crore.

The meeting was attended by Industries and Commerce Commissioner Mr. Suresh Kumar Ola and other officials.
