Ram Jalasetu Link Project Gains Momentum in Rajasthan
Jaipur, January 2026, : Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan’s ambitious Ram Jalasetu Link Project (Revised Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project) is progressing in mission mode. A 2.3 km aqueduct is being constructed over the Chambal River, expected to be completed by June 2028, marking a milestone in the state’s journey toward water security and self-reliance.
The first-phase Package-2 of the project, costing ₹2,330 crore, connects Peepalda Samel village in Digod Tehsil, Kota district, to Gohata village in Indargarh Tehsil, Bundi district. Water from the Navnera Barrage on the Kalisindh River will be lifted via pump houses into the Mej River, then routed through the Mej Barrage to the Galwa Dam, and finally to Bisalpur and Isarda dams, ensuring water supply for domestic, irrigation, and industrial purposes. The aqueduct will also provide an additional route for public transit.
The 2,280-meter-long aqueduct will have an internal width of 41.25 meters and a height of 7.7 meters. Construction, launched in May 2025, is progressing rapidly with nearly 90% of the camp and batching plant completed. Of 15 proposed test piles, 8 have been finished, and of 5,060 working piles, about 860 are complete. Daily, 15–20 piles are being constructed with the help of 12 rig machines, and 500 cubic meters of concrete are laid each day in continuous shifts.
The Ram Jalasetu Link Project, part of the broader ERCP initiative (approx. ₹90,000 crore), aims to provide potable water to nearly 32.5 million people across 17 districts, while supporting irrigation and industrial needs. Following early coordination with Madhya Pradesh and an MoU signed in January 2024, a formal MoA was exchanged on December 17, 2024, in Jaipur in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting CM Sharma’s foresight and commitment to public welfare.
This transformative project promises a sustainable solution to Rajasthan’s water challenges and is a key step toward the state achieving water self-reliance under CM Sharma’s leadership.
