CM Chandrababu Naidu Engages Global Leaders at World Economic Forum in Zurich

Amaravati, Jan 2026 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu began his high-profile visit to Europe with a series of significant meetings in Zurich, shortly after his arrival to participate in the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos-Klosters. The Chief Minister’s engagements underscored Andhra Pradesh’s intent to position itself as a major global investment destination while strengthening ties with international leaders and institutions.

Soon after landing in Zurich, Chief Minister Naidu met Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Describing the interaction as a moment of pride, the Chief Minister said he was delighted to meet the Singapore President and exchange views on global economic trends, innovation, and development pathways. The meeting is seen as particularly significant given Singapore’s strong economic partnership with India and its long-standing engagement with Andhra Pradesh in sectors such as urban planning, infrastructure, and investment promotion.

During his stay in Zurich, Chief Minister Naidu also met World Bank Group President Ajay Banga. The interaction focused on development priorities, global economic challenges, and the role of institutions like the World Bank in supporting sustainable growth, infrastructure development, and innovation-driven economies. The meeting highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s aspirations to align its development agenda with global best practices and international financial institutions.

Leading a delegation comprising Ministers and senior officials, the Chief Minister also held a meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is attending the World Economic Forum for the first time. Congratulating Sarma, Naidu noted that his participation marked a historic moment as he became the first Chief Minister from Assam to attend the prestigious annual meeting in Davos. Naidu extended his best wishes to his counterpart and emphasized the importance of Indian states working collectively to present a strong and unified investment narrative on the global stage.

Earlier, Indian Ambassador to Switzerland Mridul Kumar warmly received Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the Zurich airport. Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu accompanied the Chief Minister. Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Naidu said the World Economic Forum, held under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue,” provided a proud opportunity to represent Andhra Pradesh and its people on a global platform that brings together leaders from business, government, international organizations, civil society, and academia.

According to an official statement, the Chief Minister received an enthusiastic welcome from Telugu people, non-resident Indians, and Telugu Desam Party activists from more than 20 European countries. Their presence reflected strong support from the global Telugu diaspora and underscored Andhra Pradesh’s growing international outreach.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the Ministers accompanying him will participate in the four-day World Economic Forum summit with a clear focus on attracting investments into Andhra Pradesh. Nearly 3,000 delegates from about 130 countries are expected to attend the summit, with seven Chief Ministers from India participating in the event.

With representatives from leading global companies present, the Andhra Pradesh government has prepared detailed presentations to showcase the state’s investment potential. The focus will be on emerging and high-growth sectors such as green energy, green ammonia, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology. The TDP-led coalition government also plans to attract investments in tourism, hospitality, education, and healthcare.

The Chief Minister’s team will highlight the state’s progressive policies, investor-friendly reforms, and initiatives taken to build a skilled workforce. Industrialists will be informed about the establishment of a Quantum Valley in Amaravati and the state’s efforts to train AI and quantum technology experts. The government will announce that it is conducting an advanced quantum skilling programme aimed at training one lakh quantum professionals, with around 50,000 registrations already completed.

Special emphasis will be placed on flagship projects such as the Kakinada Green Ammonia and Green Hydrogen production plant. Team Andhra Pradesh will also brief investors on the upcoming Visakhapatnam Investment Summit and opportunities arising from it.

Notably, the Andhra Pradesh government had attracted investments worth nearly Rs 2.36 lakh crore through agreements and consultations held during the previous World Economic Forum. Ministers Nara Lokesh, TG Bharat, and senior officials from various departments are accompanying the Chief Minister, reinforcing the state’s strong and coordinated push for global investment.
