Pune Residents Experience High-Speed Thrill Through the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour

The Competition Enhanced Pune’s Beauty, Offered a Chance to Witness the Skills of Renowned Athletes Up Close; The Event Spread the Message “Ride a Bicycle, Drive Away Disease”

Pune, Jan 2026 : Under the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour, the first stage began today with great enthusiasm from TCS Circle, Hinjewadi. This international-standard cycling competition received an overwhelming response from Pune residents of all ages. Citizens, taking pride as Indians, stood on both sides of the roads and encouraged the cyclists.

On this occasion, citizens experienced the fitness, disciplined preparation, and the fast-paced thrill of moving bicycles ridden by renowned cyclists. From the reactions of the people, it was evident that they appreciated the first-ever organisation of an international cycling competition and the message of environmental protection and health conveyed through it. The inspiration the competition provided to the youth was also clearly reflected in their responses and conversations.

Citizens praised the planning of the district administration for the successful organisation of the competition. Faizan Ansari (Mumbai) said, “As an Indian, I have come from Mumbai to Pune. Along with watching this competition, my purpose is to boost the morale of the players. Today’s young generation must increasingly use bicycles for a healthy life.”

Santosh Verma from Rajasthan, referring to Pune’s historical heritage, said that one feels the presence of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in every particle of this land upon coming here. He said that the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour has been organised in this city sanctified by the footsteps of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As the competition route includes the forts associated with Maharaj, participants and spectators will be able to experience this rich historical legacy.

Due to the decorations carried out in connection with the competition, along with clean and well-maintained roads, the beauty of Hinjewadi and the Pune region has become even more pronounced. Citizens expressed the view that organising such cycling competitions is extremely important for building a healthy society.

Information about the competition was shared by the Hinjewadi Gram Panchayat, which generated significant curiosity among teachers and students. Students got the opportunity to see fit athletes from across the world in person. Local teacher Ashwini Pawar expressed confidence that inspiration from such athletes would help nurture excellent sportspersons in the future, and she expressed hope that such international competitions would continue to be organised.

Ramesh Madhure (former soldier) said that organising the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour is a matter of pride for Pune. He noted that it is a great opportunity to witness the skills of renowned athletes and to inspire local cyclists, adding that using bicycles for a healthy life is the need of the hour.

The competition received a strong response from the youth. Enthusiasm was clearly visible among young people as they cheered for the cyclists along the competition route. Maheshwari Bhatane expressed confidence that, inspired by this competition, she would participate in international cycling competitions in the future.

Janardhan Shivarkar said that he was present as a Punekar to boost the morale of the athletes. He expressed feelings of joy and pride that this competition is enhancing Pune’s reputation. Meanwhile, Sunil Dangmale delivered a message of environment and health, saying, “Punekars, wake up. Using bicycles will help conserve the environment, reduce pollution, and ease traffic congestion. Ride a bicycle, drive away disease.”
