Excellent Management of the ‘Bajaj Pune Grand Tour’; International Cyclists Praise the Event

Pune, Jan 2026 : International cyclists participating in the ‘Bajaj Pune Grand Tour’, a UCI 2.2 category international cycling competition currently underway in Pune, have expressed that the race is extremely safe and that its management meets global standards. They also said that the enthusiastic welcome and encouragement from citizens along the race route have further boosted the morale of the competitors.

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), Switzerland, sanctions international-level cycling competitions across the world. This year, for the first time in India—and notably in Pune—the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour has been organized, and the event has been progressing with great enthusiasm since January 19. The competition features 171 renowned cyclists from 35 countries, representing 29 teams across five continents, with intense competition for the title. During interactions with international cyclists amid the busy schedule of the second stage, participants shared positive and satisfactory feedback about the event’s organization.

Cimien Green, a French cyclist representing the Euro Cycling Trips team, particularly praised the event management. He said the competition has been organized in a highly systematic manner and that the quality of the roads is excellent. The warm welcome and encouragement from citizens along the route are inspiring, he noted. While traffic congestion often poses challenges in races held in some countries, he observed that despite heavy traffic in Pune, traffic management during the event has been exceptionally efficient, ensuring the race is conducted safely.

Green also shared insights into his daily lifestyle. During the race week, cyclists mostly consume a rice-based diet and avoid favorite foods. After races, special protein powder is provided, while dietary planning differs at home, with a greater emphasis on vegetables. He added that he has participated in more than a hundred cycling competitions across Europe, South America, and Africa.

Meanwhile, Dylan Hopkins, a resident of the British Isles in Australia, is participating in the race on behalf of the Roojai Insurance Winspace team. He said the citizens of Pune are extremely encouraging, which gives competitors added energy. Hopkins has been competing professionally for the past six years and has taken part in around 300 UCI races. Cycling daily is part of his routine, whether or not there is a competition. After races, he undergoes massages and follows a diet rich in carbohydrates and proteins. However, he also noted that significant changes to diet are generally not possible.
