Chief Secretary Praises Initiatives at Anandwan, Interacts with Leprosy Patients and Differently-Abled Students

Chandrapur, January 2026: State Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal visited various initiatives at Anandwan (Taluka Warora) on Wednesday (January 21), which were established by eminent social reformer and Padma Shri awardee Baba Amte. Chief Secretary Agrawal lauded the work being carried out under the leadership of Dr. Vikas Amte through the Maharogi Sewa Samiti, stating that the institution’s efforts in serving leprosy patients, providing employment to every resident, and developing students’ skills through diverse training programmes were highly commendable. During the visit, he interacted freely and warmly with leprosy patients and differently-abled students.

On this occasion, Nagpur Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, District Collector Vinay Gowda G.C., Chief Executive Officer Pulkit Singh, Additional District Collector Dr. Nitin Vyavahare, Warora Sub-Divisional Officer Sandeep Bhaske, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Panchayat) Meena Salunke, Pallavi Kaustubh Amte, Head of Internal Management of the Maharogi Sewa Samiti, trustees Sudhakar Kadu, Sadashiv Tajne, and Public Relations Officer Rajesh Tajne, among others, were present.

After unveiling the signboard of the Sandhniketan Centre for Skill and Entrepreneurship Development for Differently-Abled Persons, Chief Secretary Agrawal interacted with differently-abled students. While warmly enquiring with blind student Ritika, he asked about her name, place of residence, class, and her likes in food and games. He also praised the soulful rendition of the song “Tu Buddhi De… Tu Tej De… Navchetana Vishwas De…” performed by blind student Akshara Garghate.

During the visit, the Chief Secretary inspected the library, computer section, garments stitched by students in the tailoring unit, Any Smart Class, electronics department, training rooms, exhibition and sales centre showcasing various artworks, the woodcraft unit, workshop, handloom department, music academy, hospital, and other facilities. He interacted with students and residents at these centres and also held discussions with the institution’s Secretary, Dr. Vikas Amte.
