AAP Workers Dump Hotmix Waste Outside Surat Mayor’s House Over Corporator’s Suspension

Ahmedabad/ Surat, Aug 2026 : After an opposition Aam Aadmi Party corporator Rachna Hirpara was suspended for raising public issues in the general meeting of the Surat Municipal Corporation, office-bearers, corporators and women workers of the Aam Aadmi Party staged a unique protest in Surat. Enraged workers dumped heaps of hotfix waste outside the Mayor’s house and warned of an intense agitation if the issues were not resolved. Speaking on this issue, Aam Aadmi Party Surat Ward No.17 corporator and State Organization Minister Dharmeshbhai Bhanderi said that wherever you look, mountains of hotfix waste have accumulated. The Surat Municipal Corporation has no system for disposing of this waste. Since there is no proper system for managing the waste generated by the semi-industrial units and hotfix factories located in the city, people are repeatedly dumping their waste anywhere on the roads. When we tried to raise our voice on this matter in the Municipal Corporation House, our corporator was suspended. Suspending us will not dispose of the heaps of waste or solve the problem; a proper system will have to be put in place for that. We have come to request the Mayor and give an ultimatum.

Dharmesh Bhanderi further stated that the fact that the streets around the Mayor’s society are clean does not mean that the whole of Surat becomes clean. For that, one has to go around Surat, step out of the AC car and AC chamber and go into the streets. Today, the condition of the Mayor’s own ward and the surrounding wards has become hell-like. Ordinary people tell us that they are tired of making written complaints, but no one is giving any response—not the Chairman of the Health Committee, not the Mayor, not the Standing Committee Chairman, not the Commissioner, and not even the Health Officer! Therefore, we are dumping waste near the Mayor’s house and giving an ultimatum that if proper arrangements for disposal of this waste are not made within 10 days, the Aam Aadmi Party will also dump heaps of waste and stage a protest outside the office and residence of the State Health Minister, who also resides in Surat.

On this issue, ‘AAP’ Corporator Rachna Hirpara stated that we have been suspended for raising public problems in the general meeting. If the collection and permanent disposal of hotfix waste is not carried out within 10 days, we are fully prepared to dump waste at the Health Minister’s house as well. We request the Municipal Corporation Mayor to take the city out of this waste and find a permanent solution to the problem of hotfix waste.
