New Delhi, Aug 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday announced a major overhaul of its organisational structure, with BJP National President Nitin Nabin unveiling a new team of national office-bearers that combines experienced leaders with several new faces ahead of the party’s upcoming political challenges.
Among the most closely watched changes is the replacement of Amit Malviya as the party’s social media in-charge. After a long stint overseeing the BJP’s digital and social media operations, Malviya has been replaced by Chhattisgarh BJP leader Deepak Mhaskey. The change is being viewed as one of the most significant signals emerging from the organisational reshuffle, given the growing importance of digital communication in the party’s political strategy.
Mhaskey, who has served as a BJP leader and state spokesperson in Chhattisgarh, has experience in managing regional communication and social media strategies. His elevation to the national role is expected to bring a fresh approach to the party’s digital outreach.
Malviya, in a message following the change, thanked the BJP’s social media support base and wished Mhaskey success, expressing hope that his successor would achieve “newer digital communication milestones”.
The new organisational team also marks a significant political comeback for former Union Minister Smriti Irani. She has been appointed as a National General Secretary, bringing her back into one of the BJP’s key organisational positions.
The party has appointed eight National General Secretaries, including Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Smriti Irani, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia. Tawde and Bansal have been retained in their influential organisational positions, while the induction of new faces is aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational machinery.
B L Santhosh will continue as the BJP’s National General Secretary (Organisation), one of the most important positions in the party’s organisational hierarchy. Shivprakash and Saudan Singh have been appointed National Joint General Secretaries.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed as the party’s National Treasurer.
The BJP has also appointed 13 National Vice Presidents, bringing together several senior leaders and prominent political figures. The list includes former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda, D Purandeshwari, Rekha Verma, Varashaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Bharti Pravin Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, M Nagaraja, Tariq Mansoor and Madhuchandra Kar.
The inclusion of Ram Madhav as National Vice President is also significant, given his previous role in the BJP’s central organisation and his experience in handling political and strategic responsibilities.
Vasundhara Raje has been retained prominently in the national leadership structure, underlining her continued importance within the party.
The BJP has simultaneously announced new leadership for several of its frontal organisations. Dr Hemang Joshi has been appointed president of the Yuva Morcha, while Roop Kumari Choudhary will head the Mahila Morcha. Bansilal Gurjar has been appointed president of the Kisan Morcha.
The reshuffle comes after Nitin Nabin took charge as the BJP’s 16th national president in January 2026. The restructuring is being seen as an effort to combine organisational experience with younger leadership, strengthen grassroots engagement and prepare the party for forthcoming electoral battles.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the new appointments and congratulated the newly appointed national office-bearers and leaders entrusted with various responsibilities.
In a post on X, Modi said the new team brings together “organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect”. He expressed confidence that the new leadership would work towards strengthening the party and focusing on public service.
The reshuffle also highlights the importance the BJP continues to attach to communication, organisation and grassroots mobilisation. The replacement of Malviya as social media chief, in particular, comes at a time when digital platforms have become central to political messaging, campaign management and engagement with younger voters.
At the broader organisational level, the BJP’s structure continues to be anchored by senior leaders and its established decision-making bodies. The party’s guiding leadership includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior figures who represent its institutional experience.
The Parliamentary Board remains a key decision-making body, bringing together senior ministers and organisational leaders. The Central Election Committee, meanwhile, plays a crucial role in electoral strategy and candidate selection.

| Anil Baluni | Media In-charge | Reappointed |

The latest reshuffle is therefore not merely a change of office-bearers but a wider attempt to recalibrate the BJP’s organisational and political machinery.
With experienced leaders such as B L Santhosh, Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal and Vasundhara Raje retaining important positions, while leaders such as Smriti Irani and Deepak Mhaskey take on new responsibilities, the party has sought to strike a balance between continuity and change.
The most closely watched appointment, however, remains the change in the BJP’s social media leadership. Malviya had emerged as one of the party’s most prominent digital strategists during his tenure. His replacement by Mhaskey signals a new phase for the BJP’s digital communication apparatus, with the party expected to sharpen its outreach across social media platforms and expand its engagement with voters.
The new team will now face the task of translating the organisational changes into stronger grassroots mobilisation, effective communication and electoral preparedness as the BJP moves into the next phase of its political strategy.
