CM gives gifts and chocolates to children, says their innocent smiles and dreams are the true picture of Delhi’s future
New Delhi, August 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta celebrated Raksha Bandhan with warmth and enthusiasm on Thursday, on the eve of the festival, with children who had come from different parts of the city at the Chief Minister Janseva Sadan. The children tied rakhis on the Chief Minister’s wrist, fed her sweets and presented poems and songs. The Chief Minister interacted with them freely and asked about their schools, studies and families. The children, too, spoke to the Chief Minister with great enthusiasm and wished her on Raksha Bandhan. The Chief Minister gave them gifts and wished them a bright future.
Children share message of love and trust with their rakhis
Several children had specially prepared poems and songs for the occasion, which they presented before the Chief Minister. Appreciating their performances, the Chief Minister encouraged them and said that a rakhi is not just a thread, but a symbol of love, trust and responsibility towards one another. During her informal interaction with the children, the Chief Minister asked them whether they quarrelled with their siblings. Smiling at their responses, she made them promise not to quarrel with each other on Raksha Bandhan and to always live with love and affection. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, warmth and the innocence of children.
During the interaction, one girl, inspired by the Chief Minister, said that she, too, wanted to become ‘like you’ when she grew up. Blessing the girl, the Chief Minister told her to study well and fulfil her dreams. Encouraging the children to understand the importance of education, the Chief Minister said their future would be shaped by their studies and hard work, and that the government was committed to ensuring that every child gets opportunities to move ahead.
Children’s handmade rakhis reflect their effort and the message of a Clean Yamuna
On the occasion, the children also presented handmade rakhis to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. They told her that they had prepared the rakhis with considerable effort. The group of children also said they had drawn inspiration from the Chief Minister’s Clean Yamuna campaign. Appreciating their creativity and awareness, the Chief Minister encouraged them to contribute to keeping Delhi clean and beautiful. On Raksha Bandhan, the Chief Minister also gave gifts and chocolates to the children. She asked them to take a gift for their mothers as well and present it to them on her behalf. The Chief Minister said the joy of festivals is even more special when shared with children.
She said the love, warmth and enthusiasm with which these children from different parts of Delhi celebrated Raksha Bandhan made the occasion an extremely emotional and memorable moment for her. The children’s love and blessings were no less than a gift. Their innocent smiles, enthusiasm and dreams were a picture of Delhi’s future.
She wished that every child would always have a reason to smile, receive every opportunity needed to fulfil their dreams, and that Delhi would become a safe, sensitive and place full of possibilities for them. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that there were several rakhis tied by the children on her wrist that day, while her heart was filled with their immense love and blessings. Wishing all the children on Raksha Bandhan, she encouraged them to keep moving forward in life, study well and turn their dreams into reality.
