Anganwadi and Palna workers from 10,870 centres across Delhi to be felicitated in every Assembly constituency

New Delhi, September 2026 : On the occasion of the 9th National Nutrition Month being observed by the Delhi government, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday honoured Anganwadi workers and helpers under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. The Chief Minister felicitated Anganwadi sisters who have been serving children, mothers and families at the grassroots for years. Paying tribute to their years of selfless service, she said these women carry out one of society’s most important responsibilities without publicity or the limelight.
Anganwadi sisters honoured
The Chief Minister said Anganwadi sisters have been serving society continuously for years without seeking the limelight. From caring for children and reaching out to pregnant women to conducting surveys, assisting with vaccinations, preparing data and ensuring that government services reach families in need, they carry out a wide range of responsibilities with dedication. Their work often remains behind the scenes, and they do not always receive the public recognition they deserve. On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year journey of service, the Delhi government decided to recognise the contribution of Anganwadi workers in Delhi.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Delhi has around 10,870 Anganwadi centres, and workers associated with Palna centres are also being included in this recognition initiative. Felicitation and appreciation programmes for Anganwadi workers will be organised in every Assembly constituency, with the initiative beginning today.
Government focuses on improving facilities at Anganwadi centres
Listening to the concerns of Anganwadi workers, the Chief Minister said the problems faced by centres operating from rented premises had been taken up in discussions with officials. The government’s aim is to develop Anganwadi centres in better and permanent buildings over the next two years. As the first step, the process of shifting centres to Municipal Corporation school premises has been started. Children at these centres will have access to facilities such as toilets, parks and space to play. The Chief Minister also assured Anganwadi workers that their honorarium would be increased and said the government would work to improve their working conditions. She also urged them to carry out their responsibilities with love, respect and dedication.

The Chief Minister said that the concerns of Anganwadi workers who have been serving society for years are now the responsibility of their Chief Minister sister, and that the government will work to improve their working conditions. She said the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ is not only about taking schemes and facilities to people, but also about engaging with those working at the grassroots and the beneficiaries, understanding their actual needs and making the necessary improvements.
