Raipur, Aug 2026: On the second day of the Tiranga Yatra, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Forest Minister Vijay Sharma, along with Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, offered prayers at the revered Maa Danteshwari Temple in Dantewada before formally launching the day's programme.
After the prayers, the Deputy Chief Minister addressed a Tiranga Yatra gathering at the Dantewada bus stand. He paid tribute to the 211 brave soldiers from Dantewada district who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
Sharma said the elimination of Naxalism in Bastar had been made possible through the invaluable cooperation and support of the people of the region, community leaders, elected representatives and journalists.
He noted that the Tiranga Yatra was passing through areas that were once extremely difficult to access because of Naxal violence. Today, he said, the same areas are witnessing the Tricolour being proudly displayed with enthusiasm and a renewed sense of national pride.
Forest Minister Appeals for Tiranga at Every Home
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap described the Tricolour as a symbol of India's honour, dignity and pride. He appealed to citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and participate enthusiastically in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign on the occasion of Independence Day.
Kashyap urged people to make the campaign a collective expression of patriotism and national unity, encouraging every household to proudly display the Tricolour.
Bastar MP Calls It a Historic Moment
Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap described the Tiranga Yatra as a historic and proud moment for the region. He recalled that the route of the yatra passes through areas where security personnel had earlier sacrificed their lives defending the nation and where movement was once severely restricted because of Naxal terror.
He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Naxalism has been brought under control, paving the way for development and creating a new atmosphere of nationalism in Bastar.
The programme was attended by MLA Chaitram Atami, District Panchayat President Nandlal Mudami, Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission member Ojaswi Mandavi, Municipal Council President Payal Gupta and Janpad Panchayat President Sunita Bhaskar.
Senior officials, including Bastar Inspector General of Police Badrinath Meena, Deputy Inspector General Kamlochan Kashyap, Collector Devesh Kumar Dhruv, Superintendent of Police Chandramohan Singh and Divisional Forest Officer Ramakrishna Ranganath Vay, were also present along with a large number of local residents.
The Tiranga Yatra is being organised as part of the Independence Day celebrations, carrying the message of national pride, remembrance of the sacrifices of security personnel and renewed confidence in Bastar's transition towards peace and development.
