Tehran, Sept 2026 : Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused the United States and Israel of attempting to deepen internal divisions in Iran after failing to force the country to surrender through military action, state-run IRNA reported.
Addressing a meeting with mayors of major cities and provincial capitals, Pezeshkian said Iran’s adversaries had shifted their focus towards exploiting divisions within the country after their military efforts failed to achieve their objectives.
“After failing to force the Iranian people to surrender through military war, enemies have focused their entire plan on creating and intensifying internal divisions,” he said.
Pezeshkian stressed the need to preserve national unity and social cohesion in response to what he described as external attempts to weaken Iran from within.
He also called for broader public participation, warning against efforts by any group to undermine the country while claiming superior knowledge or authority.
“A group must not weaken the country under the illusion that they are ‘all-knowing’; public participation by all citizens is the most important way to overcome conspiracies,” he said.
His remarks came amid continuing tensions between Tehran, Washington and Israel, with Iran maintaining that its adversaries seek to undermine the country while the US and its allies continue diplomatic and economic pressure on Tehran.
