Bengaluru, September 2026 : The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) has strengthened its position among leading global business schools, securing top spots in India across multiple categories in the QS Business Master’s and Global MBA Rankings 2027, while also earning the 20th position in LinkedIn’s latest global ranking of business schools.
IIM-B said its Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA) and Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) have retained leading positions among Indian institutions in their respective categories in the QS 2027 rankings.
On the global list, IIM-B’s PGP has been ranked 31st in the QS Master’s in Management (MiM) rankings. Its PGPBA has secured the 60th position in the QS Master’s in Business Analytics rankings, while the EPGP has been placed 64th in the QS Global MBA 2027 rankings.
The PGP recorded strong scores on several key parameters, including academic reputation, employability and value for money. It scored 83.6 on employer reputation and employment rate and secured the country’s highest employability ranking at 18th position.
Prof U Dinesh Kumar, director-in-charge of IIM Bangalore, said the PGP’s performance in the QS rankings reflected the strength of a management education model combining practical business learning, evidence-based teaching, industry interaction and leadership development.
The institute’s strong showing comes alongside its performance in LinkedIn’s latest ranking of the world’s top 100 business schools. IIM Bangalore has been placed 20th globally, with eight Indian institutions featuring in the list.
LinkedIn’s ranking evaluates full-time MBA programmes based on career-related outcomes, alumni networks, leadership potential and gender diversity. Stanford Graduate School of Business topped the global ranking, followed by Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.
INSEAD of France was ranked fourth, while the Indian School of Business (ISB) emerged as the highest-ranked Indian institution at fifth position.
Among the Indian Institutes of Management, IIM Ahmedabad was placed 19th globally, followed by IIM Bangalore at 20th and IIM Calcutta at 21st. IIM Lucknow secured the 31st position, while IIM Indore was ranked 33rd.
The remaining Indian institutions in the LinkedIn top 100 were the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), ranked 62nd, and IIM Udaipur, placed 83rd. Six of the eight Indian institutions on the list are IIMs, while ISB and IIFT make up the other two.
None of the Indian institutions featured in the top 10 of LinkedIn’s ranking.
US business schools dominated the upper reaches of the global list, accounting for seven of the top 10 positions. Stanford, Harvard and Wharton occupied the first three spots. MIT Sloan was ranked sixth, Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business seventh, Columbia Business School eighth and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management ninth.
London Business School was ranked 10th, while INSEAD remained the highest-ranked institution outside the US and UK within the top 10.
LinkedIn said its methodology is based on five key pillars: hiring and demand, ability to advance, network strength, leadership potential and gender diversity. The first four parameters carry equal weight, while gender diversity carries half the weight of each of the other pillars.
The hiring and demand component uses LinkedIn data on hiring activity and recruiter InMail interactions involving recent graduates from the 2020-2025 cohorts. The methodology also considers career progression, promotions, alumni movement into director- and vice-president-level positions, alumni connections, entrepreneurship and C-suite experience.
For inclusion in the LinkedIn ranking, institutions were required to offer full-time MBA programmes accredited by either the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) or the European Foundation for Management Development Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). Eligible programmes were also required to have at least 1,500 alumni, including a minimum of 400 graduates from the 2020-2025 cohort.
The latest rankings place IIM Bangalore prominently across both QS and LinkedIn assessments, highlighting its performance across management, business analytics and executive education categories.
