Aizawl, September 2026: The first batch of Mizo Territorial Army comprising 144 Mizo youths are presently undergoing training at Gorkha Training Centre, Shillong and Corps of Military Police Training Centre, Bengaluru. After successful completion of training, they are planned to be stationed in three districts of Mizoram; Aizawl, Lunglei and Champhai. MLA Lt. Col. (Retd.) Clement Lalhmingthanga visited Bung Bangla, Zemabawk, the temporary location for Territorial Army in Aizawl District. He was accompanied by Lt. Col. Goldi Bora, Commanding Officer, Officials from PWD Project Division III, PWD Road North Division and community leaders of Zemabawk.
MLA Lt. Col. (Retd.) Clement Lalhmingthanga said that the temporary accommodation for Mizo Territorial Army at Bung Bangla, Zemabawk needs to be prepared and made habitable before the completion of training of the first batch of Mizo Territorial Army. He said that apart from the need to renovate the place to accommodate around 5 Officers and around 50 Army personnel, it is also important to construct a dedicated access road to this place without using the public road.
During the visit to the Territorial Army Camp Site, the MLA said that since the Territorial Army personnel are to be kept under strict discipline, it is important to avoid interaction with the general public. For this purpose, he inspected the proposed location for setting up Security Posts at Entry and Exit points, the planning of Entry Parking Space, the renovation of existing buildings and the installation of Fuel Storage Facility. The approach road to the Camp Site was also inspected along with PWD officials, and it was stated that it is important to conduct a survey and take up the work at the earliest.
