LUCKNOW, Oct 2026 : Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Tuesday assured strict action, a fast-track trial and lifelong security for the family of three men killed in a shooting over a car parking dispute in Lucknow's Saadatganj area. His assurances came amid protests by BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers, who demanded accountability from the police and stringent punishment for the accused.
Pathak visited the bereaved family in Brahmani Tola and said the state government stood firmly with them. He assured the family that action would be initiated under the National Security Act (NSA), the case would be taken up by a fast-track court and a government job would be provided to a family member.
The killings have triggered tension in the locality, with protesters raising slogans against the police and the state government. Demonstrators demanded the dismissal of the entire Saadatganj police station staff, capital punishment for the accused and the demolition of the house allegedly linked to the accused.
The bodies of the three victims were brought to their residence after post-mortem examinations. However, their last rites had not been performed till Tuesday evening as protests continued. A heavy police contingent was deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
Brajesh Pathak promises strict action in Lucknow triple murder case
After meeting the family, Pathak told reporters that the government had taken note of their demands and would ensure strict action against those responsible.
“The government stands with the victim's family. There will be very strict action. The case will be taken to a fast-track court, and action will be initiated under the National Security Act. No one will be spared,” he said.
The deputy chief minister said the action would serve as an example for the future and reiterated that the family would receive government support.
He assured lifelong security for the bereaved family and said a family member would be provided a government job in the municipal corporation at the level of an officer on special duty (OSD).
Pathak also announced that the government would bear the educational expenses of the victim's daughter for as long as she continued her studies. District Magistrate Vishakh G was directed to make the necessary arrangements.
The deputy chief minister further said action would be taken against illegal constructions allegedly associated with the accused.
Several BJP leaders, including state vice-president Neeraj Singh, accompanied Pathak during his visit. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Aparna Kumar and District Magistrate Vishakh G also met the family as demonstrations continued.
BJP and RSS workers demand accountability from police
The assurances came against the backdrop of growing anger among local residents and BJP and RSS workers, who insisted that their demands be fulfilled before the protest was called off.
The demonstrators demanded that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Director General of Police meet the bereaved family. They also sought action against the entire police station staff, alleging that timely intervention could have prevented the killings.
One of the workers leading the protest said the demonstrators would not enter into discussions until their minimum demands were addressed and the family and organisation's workers were treated with due respect.
“The minimum demands must be fulfilled first. Only then will we consider inviting the chief minister, the deputy chief minister and the DGP,” the worker said, adding that the protest would continue until a resolution was reached.
Abhijaat Mishra, general secretary of the Uttar Pradesh BJP, also criticised the police response. He alleged that the police knew about the accused and could have prevented the tragedy had they acted in time. Mishra demanded action against all personnel posted at the police station.
Some residents and organisation members also expressed displeasure over the absence of Lucknow MP and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from the scene.
Victim's daughter seeks government job for mother, demolition of accused's house
Shivaji Tiwari's daughter demanded free education, a government job for her mother and the demolition of the accused's house. She alleged that the property had been constructed on encroached Nazul land.
Expressing anger over the killings, she demanded the harshest possible action against the accused and his family members, including an encounter killing, and called for the house to be razed.
Her demands reflected the grief and anger within the family following the deaths of three relatives in the shooting.
The protesters also sought capital punishment for those found guilty and demanded that the authorities take action against any alleged encroachment linked to the accused. The allegations regarding the property and demands for punitive action had not been independently established.
Two police personnel suspended after triple murder
Earlier, Lucknow Police Commissioner Tarun Gauba suspended Saadatganj Station House Officer Santosh Kumar Arya and Kashmiri Mohalla police outpost in-charge Ajay Kumar Chaurasia with immediate effect.
According to a police statement, the suspensions were ordered in view of the seriousness of the incident. The action followed allegations of police negligence and demands for accountability from BJP leaders and local residents.
The investigation into the triple murder is continuing, with police having arrested the main accused.
Parking dispute leads to shooting that killed three family members
The incident occurred on Monday after an argument over parking a car on a vacant plot in Brahmani Tola escalated into firing.
The three victims were identified as Shivaji Tiwari, his brother Shivendra Tiwari, 55, and Shivendra's son Suyash Tiwari, 30. Shivaji Tiwari was an RSS functionary serving as district sah-karyawah in the state capital.
Police said Rishabh Shukla, 30, had been arrested in connection with the killings. The pistol allegedly used in the shooting, along with four empty cartridges, was recovered. He was being produced before a court for judicial remand, according to the police account.
An FIR was registered on the complaint of Ruchi Tiwari, Shivendra Tiwari's wife. Eight people have been named in the case, which includes charges relating to murder and rioting under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The investigation is expected to establish the sequence of events, the role of the accused and whether any other individuals were involved.
With protests continuing and the victims' last rites pending till Tuesday evening, the Lucknow triple murder case has put the spotlight on police accountability, public safety and the administration's response to demands for justice. The state government has assured the family of strict action, financial and educational assistance, security and a speedy trial as the investigation proceeds.
