125 kg milk cake destroyed in Bassi; 500 kg sweets destroyed in Ajmer; 413 kg food items seized in Sikar
Jaipur, August 2026: Under the “Shuddh Aahar–Milawat Par Waar” campaign being conducted under the direction of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, the Food Safety and Drug Control Department carried out intensive inspections and enforcement action across Rajasthan on Thursday.
In view of the ongoing festive season, special monitoring is being undertaken of milk, mawa, sweets, paneer, ghee and other food products. Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, Gayatri Rathore, said that no compromise with public health would be tolerated. She said strict action was being taken against food adulteration and violations of food safety standards.
Food safety teams are conducting inspections in different districts under the direction of Food Safety and Drug Control Commissioner Avichal Chaturvedi and the supervision of Additional Commissioner Bhagwat Singh. During the campaign, action is being taken against suspected and substandard food products through destruction, sampling, seizure and issuance of improvement notices.
125 kg Milk Cake Destroyed in Bassi
In Jaipur's Bassi area, officials inspected M/s Sharma Mishthan Bhandar on Tunga Road. Around 125 kg of suspected milk cake was found and destroyed on the spot.
The milk cake had reportedly been brought from Alwar at ₹180 per kg and was being sold at the shop for ₹360 per kg. The authorities seized and destroyed 60 packets, stored in three cartons, and collected samples for laboratory testing.
Samples of milk cake were also collected from M/s Shri Ambe Jodhpur Mishthan Bhandar. Samples of milk cake, mawa burfi and gulab jamun were collected from M/s Lal Ji Jodhpur Mishthan Bhandar.
The teams instructed the shopkeepers to maintain proper hygiene, keep food products covered, use food colours only within permitted limits and ensure the use of quality mawa.
500 kg Sweets Destroyed in Ajmer
In Ajmer district, a central team inspected M/s JMD Food Products and found that packed sweets did not carry essential details such as batch numbers, manufacturing dates and use-by dates.
During the inspection, around 500 kg of milk cake and doda burfi was destroyed at the municipal dumping yard. Samples were also collected for testing.
Samples of makhan bada and sohan halwa were collected from M/s Badrinarayan Pvt. Ltd., while samples of ghee and milk cake were taken from M/s Gurukripa Foods. Improvement notices under Section 32 of the Food Safety and Standards Act will be issued to the concerned firms based on the deficiencies detected.
Major Action in Sikar
A joint team of the district administration and Food Safety Department inspected Shri Shyam Beekana Namkeen Manufacturing Unit in Sikar. Serious unhygienic conditions and other irregularities were found during the inspection.
The team seized 272 kg of son papdi, 116 kg of chana dal and 25 kg of bhujia. It also destroyed 204 kg of foul-smelling namkeen and 210 kg of deteriorated palmolein oil.
An improvement notice will be issued to the factory operator for deficiencies related to hygiene and other violations.
600 Litres of Ghee Seized in Pali
In Pali district, the Food Safety Department seized around 600 litres of ghee from Shri Jyoti Saras. Samples of the product have been sent to a laboratory for testing.
Strict Action Based on Laboratory Reports
All samples collected during the enforcement drive have been sent to laboratories for detailed testing. Once the reports are received, further action will be taken based on the quality of the products and their compliance with prescribed standards. Strict action will be initiated under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, wherever violations are established.
The Food Safety Department has directed all food business operators to strictly comply with hygiene and food safety standards. The department has also appealed to the public to report any information regarding adulterated or suspicious food products to the departmental control room or concerned officials so that prompt action can be taken.
