Mumbai, Sept 2026 : The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has received objections from several candidates and student organisations regarding the evaluation of answer sheets for the State Services Main Examination-2025. After considering these objections, the Commission has decided to re-evaluate the answer sheets. As a result, the examination process is likely to take longer.
Meanwhile, a high-level committee constituted by the state government to review the existing examination systems in Maharashtra has held extensive discussions with candidates and other stakeholders across the state. The committee has also studied various best practices followed elsewhere. Its recommendations regarding an ideal examination system are expected shortly.
Against this backdrop, several candidates, parents, student organisations and some public representatives had submitted representations to the Commission seeking postponement of the State Services Main Examination-2026, which was scheduled to commence from October 3, 2026.
After considering all these factors, the Commission has decided to postpone three competitive examinations scheduled from October 3, 2026 — the State Services Main Examination-2026, Maharashtra Civil Engineering Main Examination-2026, and Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination-2026.
The revised dates for these examinations will be announced separately. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission has informed candidates through a press release that they should take note of the decision and await further communication regarding the revised schedule.
