Odisha CM Majhi Raises Gratuity Limit for Employees to Rs 20 Lakh
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an increase in the gratuity limit for employees from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, this change applies to the death-cum-retirement gratuity (DCRG) benefit and will take effect from January 1, 2024, for all regular state government employees.
The decision follows requests from various service unions within the state advocating for a higher DCRG limit for government employees. This increase aligns with similar actions taken by the Central Government, which has also raised the DCRG limit under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021, effective January 1, 2024.
Additionally, in August, the central government approved the Unified Pension Yojana (UPS), designed to provide assured pensions, minimum pensions, and guaranteed family pensions. This move reflects a broader commitment to enhance employee benefits and financial security for government workers in Odisha and across the country.
