Symbolising equality, simplicity, and service, Shri Panchayati Akhada Nirmal enters Mahakumbh

Mahakumbh Nagar : Prayagraj is being adorned for Mahakumbh under the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, with the Sikh Nirmal Akhara’s entry adding grandeur. Thousands of saints joined its grand procession, following the Shaiva, Vaishnava, and Udasin Akharas.

The procession of the Shri Panchayati Akhara Nirmal resonated with a unique blend of Ved, Vedang, and Gurbani, symbolizing a harmonious confluence of spiritual traditions.

The procession, which began from the headquarters of the Akhara in Kidganj, featured saints riding chariots, carriages, and horses. At the forefront was the palanquin carrying the Guru Granth Sahib, followed by the Panch Pyare holding swords.

Mahant Devendra Singh Shastri, the secretary of the Akhara, stated that over a thousand saints, mostly from the Sikh community, participated in the procession. Behind them, women chanted Gurbani and performed Shabad Kirtan, adding to the spiritual atmosphere. A tableau depicting the fierce form of Goddess Kali also became a point of attraction during the procession.

Unlike the grandeur and display often seen in other Hindu monastic Akharas, the Shri Panchayati Akhara Nirmal is known for its simplicity, equality, and spirit of service. The ten Gurus of this sect have always emphasized the message of devotion and service to their disciples, and this was clearly evident during the entry procession.

In a unique sight, hundreds of Sikh volunteers walked in front of the procession, sweeping the road with brooms as an expression of seva (selfless service). Local residents enthusiastically welcomed the procession with flower showers at various points along the route, making it a grand and spiritually uplifting event at Mahakumbh 2025.
