Selfless Service to Cancer Patients is Exemplary: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the selfless service being rendered to cancer patients is truly exemplary. During his visit to Virat Hospice in Jabalpur, he met cancer patients who had been given up on by doctors and, due to belonging to economically weaker families, are being cared for at the hospice during their final days.
Dr. Yadav also met Sadhvi Gyaneshwari Didi, who leads this noble initiative. He interacted with the patients and inquired about their well-being. The Chief Minister praised the Brahmarshi Bawra Mission, under which the hospice operates, calling it a remarkable example of humanitarian service. He lauded Sadhvi Gyaneshwari Didi and her team for the care provided to underprivileged cancer patients.
Before meeting the patients, the Chief Minister reviewed the under-construction cancer hospital on the hospice premises. Virat Hospice’s Medical Director Dr. Akhilesh Gumasta briefed him on the upcoming facilities, including a Brachytherapy Unit. The hospital will provide free treatment to cancer patients, and will soon install a state-of-the-art cobalt machine for radiotherapy, which will commence operations after approval from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
Chief Minister Yadav also visited the gaushala (cow shelter) on the premises and fed the cows. Milk from these cows is provided to the patients, and biogas from the shelter is used for cooking their meals. Organic vegetables grown on-site are also served to patients. Spanning 3.25 acres, the campus features solar-powered street lights and a sewage treatment plant to prevent wastewater from reaching the Narmada River.
Dr. Yadav also felicitated meritorious students from another initiative led by Sadhvi Gyaneshwari Didi, the Brahmarshi Bawra Narmada Vidyapeeth. He awarded certificates to Mahi Barman, Class 10, who scored 96.6%, Chandni Ahirwar, Class 11 (Mathematics stream), who scored 85%, and Anuradha Lodhi, Class 12 (Commerce stream), who scored 90.8%. On this occasion, the Chief Minister was presented with organic vegetables and ghee from Gir cows by Virat Hospice, along with an English-translated copy of the Ramayana by Dr. Akhilesh Gumasta.
Accompanying the Chief Minister during the visit were PWD Minister Shri Rakesh Singh, MP Shri Ashish Dubey, MLAs Shri Ajay Vishnoi and Shri Ashok Rohani, Telghani Board Chairman Shri Ravikaran Sahu, and other public representatives and dignitaries.
