MP Pu Richard Vanlalhmangaiha Meets FCI Chairman: Urges Establishment of FCI Regional Office in Mizoram
Aizawl : On June 27, 2025, Member of Parliament Pu Richard Vanlalhmangaiha met with the Chairman of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Mr. Ashutosh Agnihotri, at his office to discuss various issues related to FCI godowns and the broader foodgrain distribution system.
During the meeting, MP Vanlalhmangaiha raised concerns regarding the excessive delay in the approval process under the OMSS(D) scheme and the frequent hurdles in issuing Releasing Orders (RO) even after approvals are granted. He informed the Chairman that due to these delays, the supply of foodgrains in Mizoram is often disrupted. He also highlighted that limited local labour availability in the state leads to high transportation costs.
The MP further urged that the FCI godown at Sairang be fully operational to ensure proper storage and distribution of foodgrains. He strongly recommended that a full-fledged FCI Regional Office be established in Mizoram at the earliest.
In response, the FCI Chairman assured that he would personally review the challenges faced by the North Eastern region, including Mizoram, and would take appropriate steps to address the issues. He expressed a commitment to improving the efficiency of foodgrain supply and coordination in the region.
