Training for Nyaya Sakhis Held at West Phaileng
Aug 2025: The BDO Conference Hall, West Phaileng, a training programme on “Sensitization on Schemes of NALSA & Training of Nyaya Sakhis on Laws related to Women” was conducted.
Nyaya Sakhis are community women mediators under Nari Adalat who resolve women’s issues without taking them to formal courts. In Mizoram, this initiative was first launched in Mamit by Pu K. Laltlawmlova, Deputy Commissioner, on June 5, 2025.
From the four RD Blocks of Mamit District, 10 villages/VCs have been selected for the initiative. The first training was conducted for Reiek, Kanghmun, and Rawpuichhip Village Councils at Reiek on July 27, 2025.
This round of training was organized for four villages under West Phaileng RD Block and Kawrtethawveng RD Block — New West Phaileng, Lallen, Damparengpui-I, and Rajiv Nagar-I.
The training was chaired by Pi Lalbiaksangi, CDPO West Phaileng, and inaugurated by Pu Moses Ramdinthara, BDO West Phaileng.
Participants included about seven Nyaya Sakhis (Nari Adalat members), Village Council Presidents, CSC representatives, and Anganwadi workers. Resource persons included Pu H.T. Lalmawizuala, Civil Judge-cum-JMFC, MSLSA, and Pi Flora Laltanpuii, DD (WCD) & DPO, Mamit. They provided orientation on Nari Adalat functioning, legal awareness, and various government initiatives for women. Essential kits for Nyaya Sakhis were also distributed.
