CM Reviews Urban Development, Panchayati Raj and Tourism Departments; Issues Key Directions for Faster Implementation
Patna, April2026: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary chaired a review meeting of the Urban Development and Housing Department, Panchayati Raj Department, and Tourism Department at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Monday, directing officials to ensure speed and transparency in implementation of projects.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister issued several key instructions:
- All schemes related to urban development should be completed swiftly with transparency.
- The Patna Metro Rail project should be expedited and completed on time, including connectivity up to Patna Railway Junction.
- Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), houses should be provided quickly to all remaining beneficiaries so that homeless families in urban areas can get permanent housing.
- Solar street lights installed under the Chief Minister’s Rural Solar Street Light Scheme must be fully functional, and proper monitoring systems should be put in place.
- A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model should be adopted for solid waste management to ensure better disposal and utilisation of waste.
Reviewing the progress of various departments, the Chief Minister stressed that cleanliness, drinking water supply, and quality infrastructure development must be prioritised. He directed that all construction work should meet high standards of durability and quality.
Officials provided detailed updates on major central schemes such as the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), and the Swachh Bharat Mission. Information was also shared on initiatives like waste management systems, installation of CCTV cameras in urban local bodies, solar lighting projects, and drainage systems.
The Chief Minister emphasised the need for efficient functioning of sewage treatment plants (STPs), particularly those along the Ganga River, and called for faster completion of ongoing projects. He also directed expansion of sewerage networks to improve urban sanitation.
Highlighting traditional practices, he instructed that cremation grounds should be developed at locations where last rites are customarily performed. He also called for installation of CCTV cameras in every gram panchayat to strengthen monitoring and governance.
On infrastructure, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of completing the Patna Metro project on schedule, particularly the corridor from Malahi Pakri to Rajendra Nagar Terminal, and ensuring seamless connectivity between ISBT, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, and Patna Junction to improve urban mobility.
Senior officials, including departmental secretaries, commissioners, and district magistrates, were present at the meeting and briefed the Chief Minister on the status of various projects and proposals.
Reiterating his commitment to development, the Chief Minister said that coordinated efforts and efficient execution would play a crucial role in improving urban infrastructure and public services across the state.
