Iran And Russia Holds Close Consultations On Wide Range Of Issues.

Moscow; April 2026: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi upon arriving in Saint Peterburg today morning has said that both Russia and Iran have always held consultations on a wide range of issues.

“As you see, we have always held close consultations with Russia on a wide range of issues, in particular regional ones, and also held constant bilateral talks”, Araghchi has said.

Alexey Pushkov, Chairman of the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Information Policy Committee, has said, Iran cannot be stopped from reviving its nuclear program, despite years of sanctions pressure, Iran had not only developed missile technology and accumulated significant stockpiles of enriched uranium, but also “created a resilience potential that the American ‘hyperpower’ cannot surpass.

“If Iran overcomes the current crisis, its control over the Strait of Hormuz could become a permanent feature of the region. Tehran will certainly utilise its oil resources. Thanks to all this, Iran could potentially become a major power in the new multipolar world”, Pushkov reiterated. The Russian Upper House Member has further stated that, “Two months into the war, there is no sign of a rift in Iranian society. Iran is a very ancient civilisation. It’s an intelligent civilisation with a rich and diverse culture. Present-day Iranians are rational people. They have a very strong school of engineering”.

According to him, Iran holds a crucial geostrategic position in the Middle East as it controls the Strait of Hormuz and has a well-developed missile capability and a strong intelligence capacity. “I was astonished to hear that a drone had hit the exact floor of a Dubai hotel where CIA officers were staying”, the Russian senator noted. “It is an advanced nation with a powerful urban culture and strong ideas in the form of the Shiite religion, which cements Iranian society”.
