Municipal Bodies and Panchayati Raj Elections 2026: Nomination Process Completed, Final List of Candidates Released

Chandigarh, April 2026 – A spokesperson of the Haryana State Election Commission said that the nomination process for the general/by-elections of Municipal Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions to be held in April/May 2026 has been completed successfully. After scrutiny of nomination papers and withdrawal of nominations, the final list of candidates has been released. The Commission has made all necessary arrangements to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.

Municipal Elections – District-wise Status

In Ambala Municipal Corporation, elections are being held for 20 wards. For the post of Mayor, 7 nominations were received, out of which 3 were rejected and 1 was withdrawn. Now, 3 women candidates remain in the fray. For ward members, 96 nominations were received, 10 were rejected, and 21 were withdrawn. Now, 65 candidates (39 men, 26 women) are currently in the fray. These include 20 candidates from the BJP, 19 from the Congress and 7 from the AAP.

In the Panchkula Municipal Corporation, elections are also being held for 20 wards. For Mayor, 9 nominations were filed, 1 was rejected, and 2 were withdrawn. Now, 6 candidates (5 men, 1 woman) are in the fray. For ward members, 123 nominations were received, 6 were rejected and 30 were withdrawn. Now, 87 candidates (57 men, 30 women) are contesting, including 20 each from BJP and Congress, 13 from AAP and 7 from INLD.

In Rewari Municipal Council, 7 nominations were received for the post of Chairman. After 1 withdrawal, 6 women candidates remain. For members, 179 nominations were received, 24 were withdrawn and 155 candidates remain.

In Dharuhera Municipality, for 18 wards, 12 nominations were received for Chairman, out of which 6 were withdrawn. Now, 6 candidates (5 men, 1 woman) are in the fray. A total of 62 candidates are contesting for member posts.

In Sampla Municipality, for 16 wards, 15 nominations were received for Chairman, out of which 5 were withdrawn. Now, 10 male candidates are contesting. A total of 44 candidates are contesting for member posts.

In Uklana Municipality (Hisar), for 16 wards, 4 nominations were received for Chairman and all 4 women candidates are in the fray. For members, after 11 withdrawals, 55 candidates remain.

By-elections are being held for one ward each in Tohana, Jhajjar, Rajound, Taraori, Kanina and Sadhaura. A total of 22 nominations were received, out of which 8 were withdrawn. Now, 14 candidates are in the fray for the member post.

Panchayati Raj Institutions – District-wise Status

A spokesperson for the Haryana State Election Commission shared the district-wise nomination status for the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) by-elections and the 2026 General Elections, stating that voting for all these posts will be held on May 10, 2026.

In Ambala, elections will be held for 2 Sarpanch seats. Out of 21 Panch seats, 10 candidates have been elected unopposed and 11 seats remain vacant.

In Bhiwani, elections will be held on 2 out of 3 Sarpanch seats. Out of 30 Panch seats, 13 candidates have been elected unopposed, 1 seat will go to poll and 16 seats remain vacant.

In Charkhi Dadri, 1 Panchayat Samiti seat has been filled unopposed. Out of 20 Panch seats, 8 have been filled unopposed and 12 seats remain vacant.

In Faridabad, voting will be held for 1 Sarpanch seat. Out of 5 Panch seats, 4 have been filled unopposed and 1 seat remains vacant.

In Fatehabad, 1 Panchayat Samiti seat and 1 out of 3 Sarpanch seats have been filled unopposed, while elections will be held on 2 Sarpanch seats. Out of 26 Panch seats, 19 have been filled unopposed and 7 remain vacant.

In Gurugram, voting will be held for 1 Panchayat Samiti seat and 1 Sarpanch seat. Out of 4 Panch seats, all have been filled unopposed and 6 seats remain vacant.

In Hisar, 1 Panchayat Samiti seat has been filled unopposed and elections will be held on 2 Sarpanch seats. Out of 64 Panch seats, 39 have been filled unopposed, 19 will go to poll and 6 seats remain vacant.

In Jhajjar, out of 2 Panchayat Samiti seats, 1 has been filled unopposed, and 1 will go to the polls. Elections will also be held on 2 Sarpanch seats. Out of 20 Panch seats, 7 have been filled unopposed, and 13 remain vacant.

In Jind, voting will be held on 1 out of 2 Sarpanch seats, while 1 seat remains vacant. Out of 22 Panch seats, 15 have been filled unopposed, and 7 remain vacant.

In Kaithal, out of 4 Sarpanch seats, 2 have been filled unopposed and 2 will go to poll. Out of 50 Panch seats, 34 have been filled unopposed, 1 will go to poll and 15 remain vacant.

In Karnal, elections will be held for 1 Zila Parishad seat and 3 out of 4 Sarpanch seats, while 1 Sarpanch seat received no nominations. Out of 19 Panch seats, 7 have been filled unopposed, 1 will go to poll and 11 remain vacant.

In Kurukshetra, election will be held for 1 Sarpanch seat. Out of 23 Panch seats, 14 have been filled unopposed, 1 will go to poll and 8 remain vacant.

In Nuh, one Sarpanch seat and two out of 27 Panch seats will be contested, while 20 Panch seats remained vacant.

In Narnaul (Mahendragarh), elections will be held for 1 Sarpanch seat and 1 out of 15 Panch seats, while 6 seats remain vacant.

In Palwal, there was no Sarpanch post. Out of 21 Panch seats, 6 have been filled unopposed and 15 remain vacant.

In Panchkula, out of 23 Panch seats, only 1 has been filled unopposed and 22 seats remain vacant.

In Panipat, 1 Zila Parishad seat and 1 out of 2 Panchayat Samiti seats have been filled unopposed. Out of 16 Panch seats, 8 have been filled unopposed.

In Rewari, voting will be held for 1 Panchayat Samiti seat and 1 Sarpanch seat. Out of 20 Panch seats, 12 have been filled unopposed and 8 remain vacant.

In Rohtak, out of 10 Panch seats, 8 have been filled unopposed and 2 remain vacant.

In Sirsa, 3 Panchayat Samiti seats and 2 out of 4 Sarpanch seats have been filled unopposed. Out of 22 Panch seats, 20 have been filled unopposed and 1 seat remains vacant.

In Sonipat, out of 53 Panch seats, 22 have been filled unopposed, and 31 remain vacant.

In Yamunanagar, out of 25 Panch seats, 11 have been filled unopposed, 1 will go to a poll, and 13 remain vacant.
