Washington, May 2026 : US President Donald Trump on Thursday congratulated Ali al-Zaidi on his nomination as Iraq’s next Prime Minister, expressing optimism about a new phase in bilateral relations and offering Washington’s support for Iraq’s ongoing political transition.

In a post shared on his official social media platform, Trump welcomed the development and extended his wishes for success to the Iraqi leader-designate as he moves forward in forming a new government.

“Congratulations to Ali al-Zaidi on his nomination to be the next Prime Minister of Iraq!” Trump wrote.

He further stated that the United States hopes the new leadership in Baghdad will prioritize stability, governance reforms, and national security, particularly in addressing terrorism-related threats that have long affected the country.
